- LBLorri B1 day ago2.0In one word: DON'T. In many words: I was stuck at home, I really wanted gumbo. I ordered seafood, boyfriend got chicken and andouille. Y'all. Both so overly salted they were inedible. I got extra rice; so I added so much more rice it wasn't even liquid anymore (because we paid for it and I was gonna dang well eat it) and it was Still. Too. Salty. Hell, I don't know, maybe they oversalted the rice too, who knows. Ridiculous. I know a Chinese buffet with better gumbo than this. I'm gonna try Bon Temps next time I can't just cook it myself, or Cajun Table. To Don's, cut the salt way down if you insist on making gumbo. From what I could just barely make out under the salt, it had a hint of potential.

He served us a Dons old fashioned and I had a shot of EH Taylor single barrel, we sat just outside the bar. I hope he may remember us. Thanks again! The fried crab claws, fried alligator with honey mustard, boudin balls, and jacked up oysters are all must-orders — and yes, the alligator is as good as everyone says. The crawfish étouffée is also outstanding. Service is consistently warm and attentive — shoutout to Christian and Jack for going above and beyond. Open late, casual dress, big parking lot, and a menu that covers all the bases. A true Lafayette staple
