My husband and I ate here for a late lunch, we aren't local and we always try to find a mom and pop place to support when traveling. This place was the worst we've had in a while. The atmosphere was off, its kind of diner-like but huge and the lights hang so low that my husband had to duck down, also the salad bar was filthy, and there was dairy queen boxes and drinks in the open kitchen...I'm pretty sure thats a food inspection violation...the food is not fresh made, unless you count the fried chicken...its mostly store bought premade and just microwaved...We ordered spinach dip, it was very oily like when you warm store bought, and served with super salty cheap tortilla rounds...also store bought. For the entrée, I ordered a reuben sandwich with fries. The meat was hard and so salty I had to take most of it off the sandwich...the overall flavor was lacking due to the saltiness, the fries weren't horrible but they had alot of burnt pieces on the plate mixed in (I assume the other fried foods left behind pieces in the oil), and it made it a pain to have to eat around it. My husband got the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans. He made me try the mashed potatoes, they were not good. We found out they were instant because he asked as we were leaving and the waitress confirmed it. He said the rest of his food was under-seasoned, and he did not like it at all. Definitely never going there again.

Traveling through town, we came across this restaurant and, with 4.5 stars, we were really looking forward to giving it a try. Unfortunately, we left pretty disappointed and wouldn’t return or recommend it.
From the moment you walk in, the floors are so sticky that your feet actually stick to them as you walk. The high ceilings make the restaurant extremely loud, so there really isn’t much atmosphere or comfort.
Our waitress was very sweet and was only a few days into the job. She did her best, but understandably wasn’t very familiar with the restaurant yet, so I don’t blame her for the things she didn’t know.
They have what they call a hot bar for your sides. Unfortunately, the soup was so salty that I couldn’t eat it. It wasn't well maintained and looked very uninviting. We apparently got the last two baked potatoes, and they were cold. It looked like they then put out a reheated one that had been cut up.
I did enjoy the fried fish and the coleslaw that came with it. My husband was not so impressed with it.
The food itself wasn’t terrible, but the overall experience just wasn’t good. Maybe we caught them on an off night, but based on our experience, we wouldn’t return.
Have been here three times and their food is awesome, never disappoints. Awesome service and plenty of food choices.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Stars – An Absolute Gem in Somerset!
From the moment we walked through the door until the time we left, everything was exceptional. The service was truly 5-star all the way around.
The food was phenomenal! The Parmesan Chicken Wrap was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection, and the swirl fries were absolutely heavenly, to say the least. To top it all off, the red velvet cake was incredible—rich, fresh, and one of the best desserts I’ve had in a long time.
What really sets Serendipity apart, though, is the customer service. Sara, the owner, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. She genuinely treated us like family, took the time to talk with us, and her kindness and hospitality made the entire experience even more memorable. It’s clear she truly cares about her customers and her restaurant.
I honestly couldn’t recommend a better place to eat in Somerset, Kentucky. If you’re looking for outstanding food, amazing desserts, and customer service that exceeds every expectation, Serendipity at the Orange Door is the place to go. We’ll definitely be back!
