- NTNaitai TAug 14, 20261.0Terrible Customer Service I wasn't even a customer, but I went in with my mom and my autistic child, who were the customers. We were simply trying to get their food and leave. Somehow, I still ended up getting a stray dose of an employee's attitude. My mom was given a bag with oil all over it and politely asked for a plastic bag or to double-bag it since we were walking. The employee immediately had an attitude. Then there was confusion over my daughter's vanilla shake with whipped cream. The employee came to our table with a banana shake asking about whipped cream. I explained that we ordered vanilla with whipped cream and that my daughter already had her shake. Instead of simply communicating with the other employees and clarifying the situation, she became increasingly irritated and walked away. A few moments later, I could hear her discussing the situation with another employee, saying that she had asked us if we had our shake and we said no. That was NOT what happened. She asked if it had whipped cream, and I was explaining that my daughter's vanilla shake had whipped cream and that she already had it. How was I supposed to know she was trying to correct something that had already been corrected? What made this even worse is that my daughter was already sitting there drinking her shake with her headphones on. She's autistic, and the music, loud conversations, employees calling out order numbers, and overall atmosphere were already overwhelming enough that she had her headphones on when we walked in. The employee could clearly see that my child was sitting there with headphones on, yet she continued approaching our table loudly and angrily calling out and questioning us over a situation that could have been resolved with basic communication between employees. My daughter actually asked me afterward why the woman was being mean to us. She should be ashamed of herself for behaving that way toward a family, especially when an autistic child was clearly present and already trying to cope with the environment. I had done absolutely nothing to this employee. We were simply trying to get our food and leave. I ultimately decided not to get my own food and went straight home. This was my first time at this location, and I had no idea what to expect because I had never been there before. Unfortunately, the attitude and lack of communication were enough to make sure I will never return. Customer service matters, and this was completely unacceptable.

Serving peanuts for free began as a way for people to pass the time while they waited for us to cook up their meals (way back in the day, before smartphones). It was such a hit, and has become such a Five Guys tradition, that we keep our stores stocked with peanuts to this day.
