  The food and ambience were beyond compare only exceeded by our outstanding server, Shyne. She went above and beyond to make our daughter’s birthday celebration very special. Barn 8 Restaurant and Hermitage Farm is a very unique and memorable experience.

  Outstanding local flavors and very interesting dining area. Only complaint is that it can be a bit loud, but that's a necessary side-effect of being lively. We enjoyed everything, and had ordered a few starters, two entrees, and two cocktails. You can easily expect to spend 100$ or more per person when trying several different things, but the menu is so carefully curated that everything is intentional and delicious. Highly recommend for special occasions and we're tempted to come back just for burgers! Reservations highly recommended but not necessarily required for the bar area.

  This used to be our absolute favorite restaurant to visit when we were in the Louisville area. We were always blown away by the quality, creativity, and sheer number of exceptional vegetarian and gluten-free options. Just look at the incredible menu below from May 2026, with all the GF/Veg options! Barn 8 truly did something special. On our most recent visit, we were genuinely disappointed—and frankly, surprised—by the changes to the menu. One of the biggest disappointments was the incredible, melt-in-your-mouth cornbread appetizer that used to be made gluten-free. It is no longer offered that way; the cornbread now contains gluten. Anyone can make cornbread with gluten. But a chef who can make cornbread that delicious without gluten? That is something special. More broadly, the abundance of creative vegetarian AND gluten-free offerings that Barn 8 was once known for has diminished significantly. There are still some choices, but the menu is not nearly as impressive or distinctive as it once was. Barn 8 used to be the kind of restaurant where we could make a reservation without even looking at the menu. We knew we would have an exceptional meal, regardless of what was being offered that week. It was a destination we could count on. There were so many spectacular choices, we frequently made a meal out of sharing every single GF/VEG starter and salad, plus an incredible GF dessert. Now, we’ll need to check the menu before making a reservation to be sure there are enough options for us. It’s still good, but it simply isn’t as exceptional as it was. We sincerely hope the restaurant finds its way back to the creativity and inclusivity that once made Barn 8 such a standout for us.

  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Barn8 was an absolutely incredible experience from beginning to end. This wasn’t just a great dinner — it was truly a next-level dining experience. The food was phenomenal. Every dish felt thoughtful, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. You can tell there is an incredible amount of care and attention put into every detail, from the ingredients to the presentation. And then there’s the venue itself — absolutely stunning. The setting and atmosphere make the entire evening feel special before you even sit down to eat. Barn8 has managed to create something that feels elevated and sophisticated while still being warm, comfortable, and completely unique. The service was just as impressive. Everyone we interacted with was attentive, knowledgeable, welcoming, and genuinely seemed invested in making sure we had an amazing experience. The hospitality was exceptional without ever feeling stuffy or overly formal. Shout out to Sophia our server! She was fantastic! Personable, knowledgeable, and a joy to be around! Food: amazing. Atmosphere: amazing. Service: amazing. Entire experience: unforgettable. Barn8 is easily one of the most unique and impressive dining experiences I’ve had in Kentucky. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels truly special and delivers on every level, this is it. I cannot recommend it highly enough, and I’m already looking forward to going back!
