So naturally, I walked in expecting to either be pleasantly surprised or immediately transported back to 2006. 😂 The salad bar? Okay. Nothing life-changing, but it did its job. The meatloaf? Alright. Solid. Respectable. Not something I'm going to write a song about, but it showed up and performed its duties. The fried chicken? Slightly extra crispy. 😂 Not quite “I need a tetanus shot” crispy, but definitely crispy enough to let you know that chicken had been through some things. But then… THE MAC & CHEESE. Holy shit. That mac & cheese was ON POINT. 🧀🔥 I immediately realized I had been looking at this entire meal wrong. Forget the salad. Forget the meatloaf. Forget the chicken. I should have just invested the entire $9.99 in mac & cheese. If I could go back in time, I would have walked into Shoney's, looked the server dead in the eye and said: "Ma'am, I don't need a buffet. Just point me toward a bowl that I can fill with the mac & cheese and let me make some financially irresponsible decisions." 😂 Overall, it was a perfectly decent meal, and honestly, it was kind of cool being back in a Shoney's after two decades. Will I wait another 20 years before returning? Probably. But if not its because I've got unfinished business with that mac & cheese. 4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ And next time? I'm eating my $9.99 worth of mac & cheese. I have learned from my mistakes. 😂🧀
