As East Wichitans, we don’t always make the trek out west, but hearing about the new Himalayan Sherpa Indian & Nepali Cuisine had us making the drive—and it was absolutely worth it. We left full, impressed, and with enough leftovers for two more dinners! The Chicken Dhanyia (Hot) was the absolute star of the night. We’ve never had it before, but this coriander/cilantro-spiced curry was utterly fabulous. We had Chicken Chili Momo (Medium+), an ample portion of dumplings tossed with onions and green peppers. It struck the perfect sweet-and-spicy balance without being overwhelmingly hot. The Shrimp Stew (Medium-Plus) was delicious and very flavorful, though worth noting it’s more of a light, savory broth than a thick, American-style stew. The Saag Paneer was solid and satisfying. We paired the meal with both the Onion Naan and Cheesy Garlic Naan, both of which were excellent. A Note on Spice....Since it was our first time, we played it a bit conservative with "Medium-+" (and "Hot" for the chicken). The spice levels were exactly as advertised, but the flavors are so well-balanced that we’ll definitely venture even hotter next time! The restaurant was clean, but the service is what really blew us away. Our server was an absolute rockstar, flawlessly managing every single table in the room seemingly all at once without missing a beat. Despite being busy, they still took the time to chat with us, and we loved getting to share what we knew about Nepal and Nepali cuisine with them. In summary...Fantastic food, comfortable environment, and powerhouse service. Whether you live down the street or across town, Himalayan Sherpa is well worth the trip. We will definitely be back!

Me and my family went there and absolutely loved it! It was such a sweet place with a great atmosphere. Our server Avi(I'm really sorry if I didn't speak that right) was beyond excellent. He made us feel so welcomed and gave us a great experience. The rest is so well developed for only being open a fortnight, and Avi was so knowledgeable on all the food. Speaking of the food, it was DELICIOUS! Ten of ten recommend the steamed momos and cheesy garlic naan. The chicken fried rice was excellent as well as the lamb thukpa(I recommend medium plus level spiciness) all in all this restaurant is one I very much hope to return to many times! Thanks for a great experience Himalayan Sherpa!

Finally, a new Himalayan/Indian/Nepalese restaurant in West-ish Wichita!. A new spot in the old DeFazio's location. There are a few very minor new opening hiccups, but those were easily overlooked by the rest of our visit. The Momo's were excellent and very flavorful with a well balanced sauce (we didn't try the Jhol or Chilli Momo's, yet.) The Butter Chicken was even better than the Momo's. We finished our meal with Masala Chai Tea and were again not disappointed. Well balanced with an excellent spice combination. One suggestion I can make is look at the menu for a bit before you go. It may be difficult to decide what to order as it all looks good. We will definitely be back, frequently.

GO HERE! I had no idea what to expect or what to order at first. Everything we ordered was so freaking good. It was so freaking good! I didn’t catch our server’s name, but they were adorable, friendly, educational And I’d probably be friends with them outside of the restaurant lol. I got the lamb thukpa (sp?) soup, Which my daughter called “Nepal Ramen.” The lamb (something about Josh), veggie samosas which were the best I’ve had in town, and my daughter ordered the basmati rice dessert (she knows the name, I don’t). We had a family of three off of it, and it was super affordable for a nice Father’s Day dinner. There’s not a lot of flair in the restaurant, which I don’t mind. I see the food speaks for itself!

This was my first visit to Himalayan Sherpa Indian & Nepali Cuisine in Wichita, and it definitely won't be my last. A friend and I stopped in for dinner and were impressed from the moment we arrived. The restaurant was spotless, comfortable and casual, with a welcoming atmosphere that made it easy to relax and enjoy our meal. Part of what brought me here was curiosity about the Nepali side of the menu. I had a student intern from Nepal a this past year and wanted to be able to tell her about this new restaurant when she comes back to Wichita. I was also excited to see chicken chilli momo on the menu. A former Himalayan restaurant near my house served them, and I've missed them ever since. These were every bit as delicious, though shaped differently. Our server explained that momo shapes vary across regions, which was a fun detail to learn. The sauce was exactly what I remembered and absolutely delicious. Next time I hope to try their jhol sauce. We also ordered the mango curry with vegetables, lamb stew, garlic cheese naan, masala chai and a mango lassi. Everything was fresh, flavorful and clearly prepared to order. The portions were generous, the food arrived quickly, and the medium spice level was just right. The menu is extensive, with plenty of choices for different dietary preferences and restrictions. There are so many dishes I still want to try, and I can understand why other reviewers rave about the entrées here. Our server was welcoming, attentive and had a great sense of humor. The hospitality was exceptional, and we felt genuinely cared for throughout the meal. If you're looking for outstanding Indian and Nepali food in Wichita, I highly recommend Himalayan Sherpa. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
