Very disappointing buffet experience. Most of the food was cold, the chutney had an unpleasant smell, and almost everything was extremely mild with barely any spice or flavor. The restaurant itself was uncomfortably hot, which made the experience even worse.
The mango lassi tasted more like badam milk than mango lassi, and the pastry was watery and not enjoyable. Overall, the buffet was definitely not worth it and the food quality needs major improvement.

So delicious! Service was great. Food left you full but not painful or bloated - light and happy with a delicious variety vf gf, nf, meat lover options and varying levels of heat.
I have been to this restaurant three times, most recently yesterday for my wife’s birthday dinner.
My first experience was great. The second visit was just OK, but unfortunately, our most recent visit was quite disappointing.
The first indication that something had changed was the lack of customers. At what should have been peak dinner hours on a Saturday night, around 8:30–9:30 PM, we saw only one other party of six in the entire restaurant.
The second issue was the temperature. The restaurant was uncomfortably hot. We mentioned it to our server, who brought us a fan from another table and placed it right next to me.Apparently, this had been placed there for another customer earlier. While I appreciated the effort, sitting next to a fan throughout dinner was hardly comfortable.
The biggest disappointment, however, was the food:
- **Saag paneer:** The pieces of paneer were extremely small and few.
- **Masala dosa:** The dosa came with an excessive amount of potatoes, but overall it was
OK.
- **Lamb biryani:** It was extremely spicy and overwhelmed the flavors of the dish.
It is unfortunate to see the restaurant go from being bustling and popular during previous visits to being almost empty during peak Saturday\-night hours. Based on our most recent experience, the decline in food quality and overall dining experience may help explain why.
I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously because our first experience was excellent, and I would genuinely like to see it return to that level.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Hidden Gem for Indian & Pakistani Fusion Flavors in Johnson County!
Aahaa has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in the Kansas City area. If you’re looking for authentic halal Indian cuisine with flavors that also remind you of North Indian and Pakistani home-style cooking, this is the place to visit. Their menu blends North Indian, South Indian, and fusion dishes, so there’s something for everyone—including delicious live dosas during the lunch buffet. (Aahaa Modern Indian Cuisine)
Honestly, I haven’t had a dish here that disappointed me. Whether it’s the curries, biryanis, tandoori items, or appetizers, everything is fresh, flavorful, and cooked with care.
What really impressed me is the new management. You can immediately tell there’s a difference. The restaurant feels cleaner, better organized, and more welcoming. The menu has been refreshed, the food quality has improved, and the overall dining experience is excellent. The owner genuinely cares about the customers, the food, and the service, and it shows.
One thing that also sets Aahaa apart is its convenience. Most Indian/Pakistani restaurants around Overland Park and the Kansas City metro close around 9 or 10 PM, but Aahaa has become one of the few places where you can satisfy those late-night cravings on the weekends. That’s a huge bonus for Johnson County residents looking for quality food later in the evening. (Be sure to check their current weekend hours before visiting.)
If you’re searching for an Authentic Indian restaurant that delivers amazing food, great hospitality, including halal options, and a refreshed dining experience under new management, give Aahaa a try. You won’t regret it. Highly recommended!

Disclaimer: This review is based on multiple visits to the restaurant formerly known as Godavari (which, at the time of its rebrand, carried consistently poor ratings on both Google Maps and Yelp where it held a 2.8 stars). The establishment has since rebranded, with all original reviews deleted, but continues under the same ownership with a number of the same staff members still in place.
The food itself is acceptable—nothing exceptional, but serviceable enough that I initially returned. The service, however, has been consistently problematic and, on two separate occasions, crossed into active interference with my order.
I prefer high levels of spice. On my first visit, the server flat-out declined to provide the hottest option available on the menu despite my clear request. On the second visit, a different server was prepared to honor the same request. The original server from my first visit overheard the order, intervened, and prevented it from being entered as I had requested. I was not informed of this intervention until the bill arrived. No explanation was offered at the time the decision was made on my behalf.
This pattern of overriding a customer’s explicit order preferences is unprofessional and disrespectful. It also left me with the distinct impression that assumptions may have been made about what I “should” or “could” handle—assumptions that appeared to rest on something other than the order I actually placed. While I cannot claim definitive knowledge of anyone’s motives, the repeated refusal and the subsequent interference raise a legitimate concern about differential treatment.
I will not be returning.
