I placed a catering order two days in advance for a scheduled pickup time. I arrived at the Chipotle location a few minutes early, only to find that the staff was completely unaware of my order.
The manager (or who I believe was the manager) told me they only had one catering order scheduled for the day. I showed him my confirmation email with the correct location, date, and pickup time. He appeared frustrated that their system had not alerted him to my order and began preparing it.
After finishing the order, he asked for the name on the order and realized he had actually prepared someone else's much smaller catering order instead of mine. He then had to search the system for my order and start over preparing the correct one.
As a result, my catering order was not ready until approximately 40 minutes after my scheduled pickup time. By then, my event had already started.
Because of the significant delay, I asked if I could receive a refund or a credit for the inconvenience. His response was, "You can contact corporate if you would like, but I would be missing out on this purchase. I know I'm late, but I don't understand why you would do that because I am giving you the food."
I acknowledged that I was receiving the food I had ordered, but it was 40 minutes late and my event had already begun. He then responded, "Okay, well if you are going to do that, then next time I am not going to give you your food because that's not right."
Not only was the catering experience extremely disappointing due to the lack of preparation and excessive delay, but the manager's response was completely unprofessional, dismissive, and rude. Mistakes happen, but how they are handled matters. Instead of taking responsibility or attempting to make the situation right, I was met with hostility for simply asking to be compensated for a significant service failure.
Based on this experience, I will not be returning and will never recommend this to anyone.
