  Driving on our way to Kansas City we needed to stop for something to eat. We stopped at the McDonalds in Iola on a Friday night. We should have known better because the A&W was busy and the McDonald’s was not. The drive thru was very slow and there were 3 cars in front of us. Normally, that wouldn’t seem like a big deal but it took forever to get to the drive thru speaker. When the person in front of us pulls up, we begin to understand why. They pull up and no one answers. He says “Hello?” And the person answers back “Hello, every time you pull forward it dings. I’ll be right with you.” A little rude but okay. The customer in front of us and the McDonalds employee had an interesting exchange. We couldn’t hear everything clearly but at one point the employee said “well then, you can get out of my drive thru” Not sure what happened. We had ordered through the app so it was simple and not much back and forth. We get our food and wish them a good rest of the evening. As we pull away, I check our food. We ordered two value meals, a happy meal, and 20 piece nugget. There were no fries for the two meals and the happy meal was missing its chicken nuggets. Because it was late, we wanted to get back on the road, and the wait for our initial food took a very long time; we decided to not go back. We were very frustrated, especially since the meal cost $38. I get that in a small town you may be one of the only options but that doesn’t mean you get to be rude and half ass your job. If we are ever in Iola again, we will skip the McDonalds. It’s not worth the hassle or the attitude.

  The general manager told multiple people that the store is closed and refused to serve anymore customers even though it wasn’t even past 11:30pm yet and they close at 12:00am. This is honestly hilarious with how bad the service can get. Iola is a fairytale.

  Employees are very dirty and unkept. Store is dirty. Wait time is horrible at drive thru. 15 minutes to serve 2 cars

  You know I really don’t appreciate paying a 22$ DoorDash order just to be missing my fries, I call them and the manager says come up and we can replace them, so now I have to waste gas after I just paid 6$ for delivery just because they don’t read. When I get up there the girl at the window says “ sorry we don’t do that you need to talk to DoorDash, after I was told to come up, so I leave and call back just for the manager to say, oh no just come back, I get it wasn’t the managers fault entirely but come on this has happened to me atleast 2 times

  This place sucks. The toilet in the bathroom was constantly running, the staff were all yelling at each other, the food tasted off, the fountain machine literally fell apart while I was getting water, everything was super dirty, unironically worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had.
