  Very disappointed with my experience at Hibachi Boy in Derby. I walked in and ordered two chicken platters and one steak platter. Nothing special was added and there were no customizations. The employee at the counter told me the wait would be about 20 minutes. After waiting 30 minutes, I went back inside to check on my order and was told it would be another 10 minutes. I was frustrated but decided to wait. After another 15 minutes, I went back in again and asked if my food was ready. This time I was told my order had just been started and it would be another 10 minutes. At that point, I requested a refund and left. What was most frustrating was seeing a constant stream of DoorDash and Uber Eats orders being filled while customers who were physically in the restaurant appeared to be an afterthought. I was told they were running a special, and it seemed like the focus was on third-party delivery orders rather than the people who had actually come into the restaurant. I understand restaurants get busy, but being told multiple inaccurate wait times and then finding out my order hadn’t even been started after 45+ minutes was unacceptable. Better communication and prioritization of in-store customers would go a long way.

  I called in to order and was hung up on 3 different times, so I decided to order via online ordering. On top of menu items being $5+ more in the online ordering system than in store I had to pay a $3 fee to use the online ordering system. Very disappointing in the service.

  Food was mediocre at best. Service was horrible. There were a lot of dirty tables and we were 1 of 2 tables there. Wait time was long...40 minutes for sweet and sour chicken is ridiculous and we got our appetizer after the meal. We used to enjoy going there when it was in west Wichita but the Derby location sucked the 2 times we went. I will usually give a 2nd chance but never a 3rd. Will not be going again.
