  First time trying this place as there are not many sushi restaurants in West Lafayette. The sushi felt bland and lacking flavor. Honestly, not the worst sushi I’ve ever had, but close to it. The presentation and atmosphere of the restaurant were good though. The music choice was kinda questionable. Felt like a gym playlist.

  This relatively new restaurant makes an excellent addition to the community in downtown West Lafeyette. Along with comfortable seating and an energetic atmosphere, Sakanaya boasts a wide range of Japanese cuisine, from sushi to ramen to rice platters. In fact, it is one of the few places where you can get all of these dishes at once. Furthermore, the dishes feel authentic and the chefs have dedicated well enough to craft them. It reminds us of what we would expect to dine in Japan itself. The restaurant offers an excellent selection of beverages, and its beverage menu mostly consits of Japanese alcoholic drinks like sake (pronounced "sah-kee") as well as nonalcoholic alternatives like ramune. Once again, the restaurant is striving to create an authentic experience with international cuisine. We hope Sakanaya will continue to satisfy diners, especially those who are familiar with Japanese food.

  I love this place so much. I come here all the time and have tried so many things and have truly enjoyed everything. The godzilla role is a must try it is unlike anything I've ever tried. For my birthday I got the celebration sashimi and every cut of fish was absolutely perfect, the leo roll is also immaculate especially if you love salmon, and I am a huge fan of their chicken katsu ramen - it is even better if you ask for a side of chili oil to add in. My only complaint is that they took sweet potato fries off the menu I used to love them so much :( the takoyaki is also so good

  This was such a highlight of my trip. The service, THE FOOD!! Everything was handled with so much care and you could tell. Try them out for breakfast, lunch and dinner you won’t leave disappointed! (My partner and I were obsessed with the chairs and the decorations)
