  My kid took me here for Mother’s Day, as part of an “oyster tour” of Indy. This place had the best oysters I think I’ve ever had. SO fresh and flavorful! No mignonette or hot sauce or even lemon needed. Just beautiful. Lovely service, too. They couldn’t go wrong that day.

  We went to The Oceanaire Seafood Room Saturday night and had a pretty unsettling experience. My husband was eating a cucumber from the relish tray when he suddenly felt something sharp in his mouth. He spit it out and realized it was a tiny shard of glass. We immediately let our server know, and she apologized and took the tray away. The manager also came over to apologize, which we appreciated, but the resolution honestly felt disappointing. First she offered to comp an appetizer, except we hadn’t ordered one, and then said she’d take a beer off the bill instead. On a nearly $200 dinner, finding glass in your food and then being offered a single beer as compensation just didn’t sit right with us. Mistakes can happen anywhere, but I expected a situation involving actual glass in food to be taken more seriously.

  My wife and I went to the Oceanaire in Indianapolis for a celebratory dinner after being married for 19 years. Our server, Jay, was fantastic and very helpful. We started off with some oysters, and Jay asked about our preferences and recommended two types of oysters along with one that we knew we liked. His recommendations were great and we enjoyed all three types of oysters. For our main course, we opted for a special they were having for a party of two. My wife chose the Caesar salad, truffle mashed potatoes, and filet mignon. I chose the lobster bisque, truffle mashed potatoes, and Chilean sea bass with the dynamite option (a smashed crab cake on top of it). ALL of our main course was delicious and cooked perfectly. Jay's checkups on us were timed very well and his conversation was appreciated. Lastly, I'll add that my wife had the dirty martini with oyster service on the side, and I had a smoked bourbon. Both drinks were perfect. We will be heading back next year again and will be asking for Jay again.
