I’ve stopped at Jimmy John’s a handful of times over the years, but I’ve never really found anything that made me want to come back. Today, I decided to give it one more try and order something different. I’m glad I did because the toasted Italian sub was excellent. It was fresh, flavorful, and easily the best thing I’ve had there.
Unfortunately, the service experience didn’t match the quality of the food.
I ordered a combo, which included a drink and chips. I had ask for a cup to fill my own drink, but I also had to ask for the chips because they weren’t provided with my order. After that, I sat down to wait for my sandwich. I was the only customer in the restaurant, yet I waited… and waited… and waited.
Eventually, I happened to look toward the counter and noticed what appeared to be my sandwich just sitting there. There was no announcement, no order number called, and no effort to let me know it was ready. When I made eye contact with an employee, they simply said, “Sub ready.”
The ordering process left me confused. The receipt doesn’t clearly tell you what’s happening with your order, and there was no communication from the staff. It felt like I was expected to somehow know when my food was finished. Ya it’s fast food but wasn’t prepared for being an issue to the staff. Which is how I felt
The food earned this visit another chance, and I’m genuinely happy I tried the toasted Italian sub. However, the customer service and pickup process need improvement. A simple “Mark, your order is ready,” or even calling out an order number would have made the experience much better.
