She came forward to take my order, but since I wanted to pay cash she had to wait for someone else who was authorized to do the counter. I observed other employees in the back room who did not come out after being informed of a line waiting for service. Finally a woman came out while talking on a cell phone carrying a cash drawer for the register in her other hand. Eventually I got someone to take my order and ring up the transaction...wasn't either the grill cook or the 'cash drawer lady'...but someone else that finally appeared from the interior. Placed my order but had to wait excessively long to acquire my food as it became apparent the personnel behind the counter were not prepared to assemble meals and pack orders. Dined "in", but will probably not in the future...the heavy metal music playing at high volume in the dining area spurred me to leave as quickly as possible.

Serving peanuts for free began as a way for people to pass the time while they waited for us to cook up their meals (way back in the day, before smartphones). It was such a hit, and has become such a Five Guys tradition, that we keep our stores stocked with peanuts to this day.
