I arrived at the restaurant and placed my order using the self-service screen. I completed the payment with my phone, and the transaction was accepted, but the screen would not respond when I tried to proceed to the next step. Thinking the order had not gone through correctly, I attempted to pay again using my card, but the system still did not process the order.
Confused, I pressed the assistance button and explained to the employee what had happened. Because communication is done through a speaker and microphone system, the audio was difficult to understand, and I believed I was being told that someone would come help me. The screen also indicated that the kitchen was preparing my order and that an employee named Lilith was on the way.
I waited patiently, trusting that someone would come resolve the issue. However, no one ever came. After waiting for some time, I pressed the assistance button again to ask what was happening with my order. Instead of receiving help, I was met with yelling, hostility, and disrespect. The employee aggressively asked what I was talking about, and when I tried to explain what I had understood, she continued to raise her voice at me. Even after I calmly told her that there was no need to yell at me, she continued shouting and told me that she had already explained it three times and that I simply refused to understand.
What should have been a quick stop to buy food turned into a humiliating and deeply upsetting experience. I left without my food, without a solution, and without receiving even the smallest amount of respect or empathy. I walked away feeling frustrated, hurt, and completely helpless. I arrived hungry, expecting nothing more than to purchase a meal, and instead left with a knot in my stomach, feeling mistreated and embarrassed by the way I was spoken to.
The most painful part was not leaving without food—it was feeling like my concerns did not matter and that, rather than trying to help me, they chose to treat me as if I were the problem. No customer should ever be treated that way. After this experience, it is difficult to imagine returning to a place where I was made to feel so unimportant, disrespected, and unwelcome.
