  We visited Kanpai on a Friday night at about 6:30pm. We stood by the hostess stand for quite a while before a staff member told us to sit where we wanted. There were maybe three other tables with customers. As soon as we sat down we noticed our table was sticky and had water rings all over it. The person that took our drink order was a child and he seemed extremely nervous. We ordered crab rangoons for our appetizer, the crabzilla roll, and the sesame ahi tuna. The tuna came with either miso soup or salad and I chose salad. My date also ordered a salad on the side. The sushi roll came out very quickly, before anything else. There were no utensils, napkins, or soy sauce on our table. We had to ask for chopsticks. The crabzilla roll tasted okay but was quite small. The crab rangoons came out with one of our salads. We had to ask for our extra salad. The crab rangoon was barely warm but they tasted good. The salads were a nice size but the dressing was extremely heavy on the sesame oil. My ahi tuna came out last and it was obviously very raw. It was supposed to be seared with sesame but it was absolutely cold. I only ate the very few bits that had a slight sear. The flavor was good but I could not get past the raw issue. The snap peas that come with it had absolutely no flavor. It also came with brown rice which also had no flavor. The food was definitely the worst I’ve experienced. I will also mention the server never came to check on our table. He never refilled our drinks that were empty. We had to track him down to get our check. When I visited the restroom there was no AC and it was very humid and hot. There was no hand soap or paper towels. Overall, a terrible experience. We will definitely not be back.

  Hands down the best sushi restaurant in town ... Definitely worth visiting, or at least getting a to-go order!

  Food and service never disappoints! My only complaint is the bathroom. The plumbing, no matter how clean it is, has an appetite-killing odor that no amount of deodorizer can lessen. Avoid the restroom for a nice experience.
