Had a young girl named Keely that was AWESOME! She asked my likes and dislikes then helped me pick out the best meal I’ve had in Evansville. I travel quite extensively and I typically can’t find a restaurant I like here; however, I now have a favorite.

Came here for our 25th Wedding Anniversary, Ken was our server and did an amazing job. Food was great, we had made reservations and they had a special tablecloth for us, and also an anniversary card addressed to us. Great service and great experience all the way around.

We had an extremely disappointing experience at Bonefish Grill tonight, especially considering this restaurant presents itself as an upscale dining experience with knowledgeable service and quality seafood. Unfortunately, it felt like the complete opposite from start to finish.
Right away, our server appeared unfamiliar with the menu. We asked if they had bottled still water and were told they only offered sparkling water, despite bottled still Aqua Panna being clearly listed on the menu. When we ordered a bottle of wine, we had to physically point it out because the server didn’t seem to know the wine list either. It then took nearly 10 minutes to open the bottle because he couldn’t remove the cork, leaving us sitting there awkwardly while he struggled the entire time. That is not the level of professionalism expected from a restaurant trying to create an elevated dining atmosphere.
The food continued the trend of poor execution and lack of attention to detail. We ordered a plain cheeseburger without sauce, and it arrived without cheese entirely — despite ordering a cheeseburger. The mahi mahi was noticeably overcooked and dry, which is especially disappointing at a seafood-focused restaurant.
Dessert was the final frustration. We specifically asked whether the seasonal blueberry crème brûlée simply had blueberries on top or whether the dessert itself was blueberry flavored. We were explicitly told the blueberries were only a topping. Instead, what arrived was an entirely blueberry-flavored crème brûlée topped with frozen blueberries, not fresh. It was not what we ordered or what was described to us. Thankfully, after we emphasized our disappointment and explained that it was not what we had asked for, the dessert was removed from the bill.
To be fair, the waiter seemed young and inexperienced, and by the end of the night I honestly felt bad for him because it was very clear he had not been properly trained. This felt far more like a failure from upper management than an issue with one employee. A restaurant that markets itself as an upscale dining experience — and even refers to its servers as “anglers” throughout the menu to reinforce that image — should ensure its staff are fully trained on the menu, proper wine service, and basic customer communication before being put on the floor.
Maybe I’m simply used to New England fine dining standards, but this experience was nowhere near even low-level fine dining in New England. What makes it more disappointing is that I have actually been to a Bonefish Grill in New England before, and the experience was completely different — polished, knowledgeable, and professional. That makes this feel less like a brand issue and more like either corporate not paying enough attention to all of its franchises or this particular location simply not caring enough to uphold the standards the brand claims to represent.
