  Hostile atmosphere, bad operations, and aggressive surveillance This store has completely abandoned basic customer service in favor of aggressive, insulting "loss prevention" tactics. The store opens at 6:00 AM, but they intentionally keep one set of doors locked until 8:00 AM as a "loss prevention" policy. I arrived after 8:00 AM, and the secondary entrance was still locked with zero signage indicating it was closed. You just walk up to a dead door and stand there like a "potential criminal" trying to figure out why it won't open. When questioned, management brushed it off as early-morning security. The self-checkout scanners here are calibrated to be hyper-sensitive and pushy, constantly freezing the screen. The experience is night and day compared to the Gurnee, Antioch, and Lake Forest locations. When I brought this difference up, the employee tried to gaslight me by claiming all corporate scanners are identical—which anyone who shops multiple locations knows isn't true. Stores are cutting local cashier jobs, forcing us to do unpaid labor, and then treating us like suspects while we do it. I refuse to use self-checkout here to protect neighborhood employment and avoid being micromanaged by a computer. Save yourself the frustration and shop somewhere that values its customers and actually staffs its checkout lanes.

  I frequently use the pick up program for my grocery order. Seriously like one time per week for over a year. Today Charlie brought me out my order and firstlyhe apologies for how long it took. He said I had to run and grab you a new package of buns. The order was packed with can goods on your buns and I didn't want you to receive them that way. Thank you to Charlie for your care. It's not the first time I have had a good experience with his customer service.

  Some of the checkers are nice but the deli, they give lousy service and are unfriendly. They will have 3 people working and ignore one person waiting to be waited on.. I now drive to Kenosha to shop.

  Horrible prices. Horrible produce. Horrible meats. They aren't making as much money on soda and snacks so they're cutting quality everywhere else and ripping you off any way they can. More expensive than comparable local mid-tier grocery stores and you make older people who don't understand the app pay more money. Their expiration dates never seem right. Everything expires a lot earlier than what's on the label. Your 'buy one get one free' deals is a tax on people that don't understand math. You double the price and then pay for the cheaper one, meaning I'm paying the difference between the two in addition to the regular price. Let's say I buy 8 burger patties outright and that costs $20. Jewel will price 4 at $19.50 and another 4 at $20.50, meaning you end up paying $20.50. You pay 50 additional cents for this 'deal'. Soon Jewel switch to digital price tags and have a surge fee on popular items. Just watch.
