Jimmy John’s has always been one of my favorite sandwich chains, and I especially love that they offer cherry peppers. I hadn’t been there in a long time and was actually looking forward to stopping in.
Unfortunately, this visit completely changed my opinion.
When I walked into this location, the staff already seemed a bit disorganized. As I approached the counter to order, I noticed one of the employees holding a large napkin or paper towel against the side of his head. He pulled it away, looked at it, and I could clearly see large red blotches all over it. He then placed it back against his head and immediately started taking my order.
I asked if it was blood, and he laughed and said his ear was bleeding from an issue involving his earring.
I was honestly beyond disgusted. I immediately gathered my wife and left without ordering. Any restaurant that thinks it is acceptable for an employee to stand in front of customers while actively bleeding in a food prep area is not a place I ever want to eat at again.
This was not only unprofessional, but a serious hygiene and food safety concern.

Visited Jimmy John’s on 325 North Milwaukee Ave on March 2, 2026, and had a really disappointing experience. My husband went in to place our order, we’ve had Jimmy John’s in multiple cities and states, so we’re very familiar with how things usually work.
I simply asked if I could pay extra to add more meat to my sandwich. Before the employee helping us could even respond, another employee from the back started yelling “no, we can’t do that” in a very rude and aggressive way. It was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. Even the other staff seemed annoyed by his behavior, but no one stepped in.
What made it worse is that other locations have always been helpful in suggesting ways to customize or add more meat. This experience was the complete opposite.
Totally unacceptable for a place that’s just making sandwiches. That employee seriously needs better customer service training.
