I came into your restaurant twice today. The first time, I actually ended up leaving because I was uncomfortable with how a staff member was being spoken to by management. It didn’t feel appropriate for a customer setting, and it made the environment uncomfortable enough that I decided to step out. I observed management address a staff member publicly in a way that came across as humiliating rather than corrective. It was uncomfortable to witness, especially as the individuals involved are adults in a professional workplace. From what I understood, the issue involved a forgotten apron, which I believe could have been handled privately and with more respect.Management was increasing their tone volume as if that would of made their point across… it just escalated the situation and i spike to the customer next to me and she said that it is unacceptable and unfortunate how this establishment doesn’t reflect what it stands for .this staff member looked embarrassed. While standards of professionalism are important, leadership should also reflect professionalism in conduct and appearance.
I later returned again to place an order for cheeseburgers to go for my parents, but the service still wasn’t great. From what I observed, the way staff are being managed may be affecting the overall customer experience.
As a regular customer who has eaten here before and even brought my family in the past, this was disappointing to see. I’m sharing this feedback in hopes that it’s taken seriously and helps improve both staff treatment and the overall atmosphere for customers.

If possible, I would give this location 0 stars. I genuinely feel for the employees who have to work in what appears to be a very hostile environment. During my visit today with my family, we unfortunately witnessed what seemed to be a manager or someone in a position of authority publicly belittling a young employee. The tone, attitude, and manner in which the situation was handled were completely inappropriate and only escalated the issue further.
As someone who also works in management, I understand that leadership should focus on de-escalating situations, supporting employees professionally, and maintaining a respectful workplace environment. What we witnessed was the exact opposite.
It was especially disappointing that my child had to witness this interaction. No employee deserves to be treated in such a humiliating manner, particularly in front of customers. I sincerely hope this matter is brought to the attention of HR and addressed appropriately, because management behavior like this should not be tolerated.
Portillo’s operating purpose is “Feeding Passions, Making Memories.” Unfortunately, this experience did create a memory for my family, but not a positive one. I also have video of the incident and hope the company takes this feedback seriously and works toward improving its workplace culture and leadership standards.
Sadly, after this experience, we will no longer be returning to this location.

Ordered a beef, was barely any meat on it. The last time I went my order was wrong, whatever mistakes happen. But if im getting way less food for the same price is unacceptable. It was basically just bread dipped with hardly any meat on it. I think I'll just stick with Buona's or Al's Beef from here on out. This used to be chicago staple and now it's just another fast food restaurant. So disappointed...

I used to frequent this Portillo's location regularly years ago, but I’ve noticed a pretty major decline in the quality of the food over the last couple of years. About a year ago I stopped in for an Italian beef and was really disappointed. The sandwich was bland, tiny, and barely had any beef on it. I figured maybe it was just an off day and decided to give them another chance yesterday, but unfortunately it was the exact same experience.
We ordered a hot dog and an Italian beef, and when they handed us the bag, we honestly couldn’t even tell which sandwich was the beef because they were practically the same size. That’s how small the Italian beef was. Mine had maybe five shreds of beef total in the entire sandwich. It looked sad and tasted just as disappointing.
Our fries were disappointing too, most of them were the little hard pointy end pieces instead of actual fries. Between the tiny portions and lack of quality, the whole meal just felt cheap and thrown together. Wish I could've gotten my money back, not even worth it.
I’m not expecting five pounds of meat piled on the bread, but this was honestly pathetic for the price. Something clearly needs to change at this location because having the exact same issue a year apart says a lot. This will probably be my last time giving this Portillo’s another chance. I really hope other locations haven’t gone downhill like this one has. The atmosphere is nice, service was good, but that's about it.

Listen if I'm going to come to Portillo's at the prices that you charge I expect my food to be hot. Especially at noon. Large order of onion rings literally lukewarm at best, ice cold by the time I finish them. That's inexcusable. Thoroughly disappointed. Get your act together over there.... Cuz you lost a customer for this location for sure
