Gabatoni's came recommended by the hotel I was staying at. The location looks older and I almost went right past the entrance. The inside looks like its an old Italian place out of the 80s. Not the obligatory pics of Frank Sinatra, rather the low drop ceiling, laid back atmosphere, and of course white table cloths. I went at 7:45pm (they close at 9, last order at 8:45). My server greeted me within about 2-3 minutes and was very friendly. I wasn't sure what I wanted to order so he went back to the other 2 tables, a party of 11 and a family of 4. It took about 10-15 minutes to get the server back over to my table. Again, very friendly, just not quick. I ordered a pizza and he said it won't be long as I am the only order in the building. The pizza took around 20 minutes. It came out looking and smelling great! The crust, similar to Chicago tavern style, just not very crisp. Maybe the ovens were turned off early and the deck cooled? I had my pizza for about 10 minutes and the server came over telling me he'd box up the rest and I could eat out of the box and take whatever I wanted home. I didn't argue, but it did feel like I was being rushed out. It was 8:30. Overall, I highly recommend the food for take out. If you want to eat in, maybe try earlier in the evening. It was obvious the staff was ready to call it a night.

I grew up in Springfield but now live in St Louis. Heard it reopened so had to try it on a recent road trip. It was delicious! They've upgraded inside the restaurant which was nice. So happy it reopened!

Delicious pies here, especially the EBA! Everything But Anchovies. The lasagna is to die for! Love this place. Highly recommend!!
It was my first time back in 8 years and it was an unforgettable dinner! While sitting in the dining room, I witnessed an active robbery inside the restaurant. The staff was very dedicated to catch the 3 robbers and the entire staff fled out the dining room door to catch the perpetrators. Once the staff returned, our waitress was so friendly and apologetic & kept us updated on the crime (as it was not the restaurant's fault).
For the food, we tried the potato skins which was served with a side of salsa which odd but the ranch was good. The pizza was very crispy and almost burnt, likely due to the disruption of the pizza being in the oven longer due to the robbery.
