I like Panera. The current manager Sandy is bad at listening though. I came with a concern about a fermented drink (Passionfruit Paradise Energy Refresher) I received to which she responded that she disagreed it was fermented. She did admit that it was off as she'd tasted it herself. When I said I didn't know of any other natural process that breaks down sugar into carbon dioxide, she said she lied and wasn't a scientist and didn't know, which is like... then why did you give me your opinion? Anyway, during the conversation she kept interrupting and speaking over me, which seemed to be a result of her nervous disposition and an aversion towards perceived interpersonal conflict. It was highly frustrating. Upon trying to get words in she said, "please don't be mad! I'm agreeing with you!" which is interesting because she had very much said that she disagreed that it was a fermentation issue (which was when I brought up the fact that she very much did disagree and that's when she admitted she lied). And too, we're past me being mad. I paid for and was given a bad drink that was fermented which is unsafe of course I'm mad. I didn't come in yelling or raising my voice, but my disappointment was apparent. I'm not going to act like it's sunshine and rainbows when bacterial growth has caused a chemical reaction in the drink I bought are you kidding me? Anyway, when I got there, I let her speak first which is when she told me that she disagreed that it was a fermentation issue. She poured another drink to demonstrate that bubbles form on top of the poured drink and that's natural, but I was referring to the visible bubbles IN the drink that were a product of the carbonation that was highly apparent in flavor and texture when I took a sip. I really don't know what the demonstration was supposed to do for me. I was offered another drink which I did not accept, but I did get a refund on the entire order. I later spoke with her on the phone, looking for a contact to a broader overseer of operations to explain concerns to. I explained that I was frustrated with the fact that the fermentation happened and by the fact that she told me it wasn't fermented when it was. Her response to this was that I had been "demanding answers," which is very funny because I wasn't. I already knew the answer was fermentation. She volunteered her uneducated opinion unprompted when I was just looking for amendment or correction, not answers. In that call I discovered (while enduring the same interruption and talking over as before) that the agitator in the bowl that held the drink was not working. Sick of being spoken over and hearing excuses, I repeated that I was looking for a contact, which she finally gave me. Upon speaking with the district manager, I learned that there is a refrigerated section of the drink bowl, and the agitator moves the drink around so that all parts of the drink touch the refrigerating mechanism. Since it was broken, a large portion of the drink was left unrefrigerated overnight, which is what caused the fermentation. So we've received confirmation that it was fermented. Which truthfully was not necessary because if a drink that is not typically sour and carbonated is now sour and carbonated... what else could have happened? I was left more irritated by the conversation with the manager than I was about the drink. Speaking over people and being defensive (over something that isn't even personal) will never deescalate a situation. I do hope she learns this soon as a manager. To tell me not to be mad when I should be and that I came in "demanding" when I wasn't... trust you have not seen mad and demanding from me yet. District manager said he'd put some reward on my account, which I don't see reflected in my account, but it's fine because I need a break from Panera now lol. This left a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended), and I'll wait for that to subside before I try going back again. If I'm brave enough to try a drink again, hopefully it is properly stored and not fermented 🤞🏾

This just happened. I shit you not. sitting at a table 8:55. told we close in five. we just got our food at 8:50. today is July 1st so Management can know who this was. Came to our table at 9 said they were closed. no problem, figure we had a couple min to finish. then proceeds to tell us if we are here past 9:05 she would call the police. no reason. that's their protocol. she was beyond rude, arrogant, and combative. NEVER in my life experienced anything like this. Shocked is an understatement. Literally for no reason. WILL NEVER GO BACK
