I am extremely frustrated with the continued decline of the 1151 S. Roselle Road Jewel location. Unfortunately, today's experience was just another example of the poor customer service, lack of accountability, and overall disorganization that seem to have become the norm at this store. I spent approximately 15 minutes trying to locate a product. I asked two different employees for assistance, and both essentially brushed me off because the item was "not part of their department." Instead of taking ownership and helping a customer find an answer, they simply redirected me elsewhere. Customer service should not involve a game of passing the buck. After getting nowhere with store employees, I asked for the store manager, Shanna. Unfortunately, she was no more helpful than the employees I had already spoken with. Rather than taking ownership of the situation, she immediately began making excuses, claiming there was no bread delivery that day. She could not locate the product, could not identify where it should have been stocked, and could not even find a shelf tag for it. What frustrated me most was the complete lack of accountability. No concern was expressed about my having spent 15 minutes wandering the store trying to find a single item, nor about multiple employees simply passing me off because the item was "not their department." No attempt was made to make things right, and no compensation or goodwill gesture was offered for the inconvenience. While I was expressing my frustration to management, another customer walking by overheard the conversation and nodded in agreement with my concerns. She even commented that she experiences similar issues at this store. That interaction confirmed what many customers already know: these problems are not isolated incidents. What is most frustrating is that customers continue to report concerns, yet nothing appears to change. The store is frequently disorganized; products are difficult to locate; employees seem unwilling to assist outside their assigned departments; and management appears unable or unwilling to address the root causes of these ongoing issues. I often hear people say, "It's not the manager's fault." I disagree. Leadership sets the tone for how a store operates. When employees feel comfortable refusing to help customers because something isn't "their department," that reflects a management and training problem. When a customer wastes 15 minutes searching for a product, and the store manager cannot determine where it should be stocked, that reflects a management and operational problem. Customers should not have to spend 15 minutes searching for a product, bounce from employee to employee, and ultimately discover that even store management cannot provide an answer. At some point, excuses need to be replaced with accountability and action. I know I am not the only customer experiencing these issues. The difference is that I am taking the time to formally report them. I sincerely hope someone at Jewel takes these concerns seriously because, from a customer's perspective, this store continues to decline and the shopping experience continues to worsen.

The freezers at this location are constantly broken and full of frost, and the product packaging is damp. The store sells terrible-quality ice cream that has been refrozen. I don't understand why they haven't been able to solve such a simple problem for so long. It seems like management doesn't care about it at all.

If there was a way to give this store 0 stars I would! On June 13th was my daughters graduation party now mind you I ordered my party package which included 96 piece of chicken ,16lbs of potato salad and macaroni salad and 4 packs of Hawaiian rolls. When I got there day of grad party they told me that there was no order! So nothing was ready!! I was about to really freak out! I had a whole hall filled with people waiting for food! Then the lady finally found my order! And tells me i should not order in advance cause orders get lost! No that should never happen! I waited 2 hours for the food! And missed most of my daughters grad party when I got back to hall I looked and some chicken was still cold and I disputed with corporate and my bank and store manager has not reached out to me I just want my money back! This was most horrible experience I ever had!

There was an honest, simple mistake that could happen to anyone. I wasn’t blaming anyone and stayed calm the entire time. My thought process was simple: let’s go to customer service, get it corrected, and move on. I didn’t even think about writing a review until this manager started talking. The cashiers were incredibly nice. The manager, especially the lady with the red hair if I remember correctly, seemed to have some issues that day. When I came to customer service to recheck the price of the firewood logs, I specifically said it wasn’t a big deal. I wasn’t blaming anyone. Mistakes happen. I work in customer service myself, so I understand that simple errors occur sometimes. That’s exactly why customer service exists — to resolve those situations. When she wanted to scan the logs, I simply tried to help lift them. She said I could leave them where they were, but I could clearly see they were positioned on the bottom section of a smaller cart and would be difficult to scan. Then she suddenly said, “There’s no need to make a scene, it’s just an honest mistake.” Are you kidding me? Nobody was making a scene. I was calm the entire time. I was simply trying to help. Then she started showing passive aggression for absolutely no reason. I told her that nobody was making a scene, that I had already said it wasn’t a big deal, and that she was making up this whole “scene” narrative. There was no argument, no raised voice, and no confrontation. I came to customer service specifically because I understood it was an honest mistake and wanted it corrected. She then responded that because I lifted the logs after she told me not to, I was making a scene. If lifting a couple of logs to help someone scan them counts as “making a scene,” then maybe it’s time for a day off. At that point, the conversation stopped making sense. I decided I didn’t want to participate in it anymore and politely asked her not to speak to me further. Maybe that’s how Jewel-Osco trains their managers. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I just hope she doesn’t take her frustration out on the cashier. I understand that people can have bad days, but accusing customers of creating a scene when they are being polite and cooperative is a bit too much.
