1st shame on me for being ignorant to the fact that what I thought was a drive thru lane was an online pick up lane. I got in the line at 12:13 pm and the line was long like maybe 6 or 7 cars in front of me. When I pulled around the corner and realized there was no speaker and that was a pick up line I place an online order for just chips and queso at 12:27 pm and there was still two cars in front of me. It said the order would be ready at 12:40. When I pulled up to the window it was 12:36. I was told my order was not due until 12:40 and there were other order that were ready. They did not actually say to pull around but also did not offer to just bag up some chips and queso so I pulled around back in line. There are now 8-9 cars in front of me. The car that was two in front of me sat at the window for almost 10 minutes. I got back to the window at 12:59. When I look in the window the employee is JUST bagging up my order. So you're telling me it takes 32 minutes for chips and queso. I used my whole lunch hour to get some chips and queso then the chips were stale so I did not eat them and had to save my queso to bring home and eat later. Annoyed

Long time happy Chipotle customer, but I had not had anything there with steak for many years. I usually get the barbacoa or sometimes chicken in a bowl. So long in fact, that I forgot why I stopped eating their steak. So, I decided to get some tacos (many moons since I did that as well.) I now remember why I don't get their steak. One bite in and I get a piece that is mostly grizzle and have to politely pull that out of my mouth and place it on the side. In my head I think, "well, steak is like that, so no big deal." I take another bite, and yet again grizzle and now some sinew joins the party. OK. It's a bit annoying, but I press on, hopeful of change, like an idealistic child. Next bite, more unchewable grizzle. I now have a small pile of half-chewed bovine parts accumulating on the side of my allumminum foil lined little taco tray. Frustration building. At this point I wondered if I would ever have at least one bite of steak that would meet my simple culinary requirement of being mostly meat. It was at this time that I started to realize the steak was also a bit undercooked and completely flavorless. Frustration-fully entrenched at this point. Throwing caution to the wind, I quickly bit into another piece, frantically in search of some sort of steak-like deliciousness that could give me even the slightest bit of enjoyment from this meal. Alas, the steak said, "not today son." Just more unchewable and flavorless steak cubes that contributed to the pile of horror on the side of my tray of disappointment. It looked like a scene from "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." In all honesty, I did have a bite or two on the other two tacos that actually gave me a brief respite from trying to pull steak from my mouth, without looking like a Cro-Magnon man at a fresh kill. But the wished for flavor of steak never made a desperately desired appearance. Thankfully, their delicious salsa, made what little I was able to consume, bearable. I would say about 30% of the meat in my tacos was partially consumable with your teeth acting like a machine that you would likely find at a butcher shop or an old folks home. Everything else was fine and up to usual Chipotle standards. I could have taken a picture of the pile of horror on my tray and posted it here, but I think that might be a violation of the Geneva Conventions. Certainly cruel and inhuman punishment to your eyes. Needless to say, I will likely go another 7 or 8 years again of enjoying Chipotle's great other food and walk in one day and say, "why don't I eat their steak?" "It's been so long, I forgot." If you see me there pondering that question, just smack me in the head and tell me to just get the Barbacoa or Chicken. I will surely thank you. 😁

I eat at Chipotle 2 to 3 times a week, rotating through almost every location in the Chicago area. I used to love it, but the recent decline across the region is impossible to ignore. * **The Portions:** The "Chipotle Skimp" is entirely real. Bowls are wildly inconsistent and frequently half-empty. For today's prices, you shouldn’t have to beg for a normal scoop. * **The Food:** The kitchen quality has cratered. The rice is consistently dry, crunchy, and undercooked because kitchens are rushing to keep up with online orders. * **The Cleanliness:** If you eat inside, expect a mess. Sticky tables, overflowing trash cans, and dirty drink stations are now the norm across Chicago. When you visit dozens of different stores and face the exact same issues, it’s not a "one bad location" problem—it’s a systemic corporate failure. Chipotle has traded quality control for profit margins. Until they fix their consistency, I’ll be taking my business to local alternatives.
