I went here for two cheeseburgers with extra grilled onions and mustard.
The grilled onions are NOT grilled with an order. Instead, they are grilled in the beginning of the day and sit in a small silver container until requested. No telling how long it sat. That made burger cold and I live right up the street. It also upset my stomach bad all night.
Very dirty in there, with fries, peanuts and waste on the floor. Wouldn't want to eat there.
Lastly, I can't get a small bag for peanuts to go. At $11 per cold, old ingredient burger, why can't I?
NEVER AGAIN!!!

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Five Guys today. I placed an online order for approximately $70 and, after realizing I had forgotten to order an additional burger, I ordered one separately for about $13–$14.
When I arrived to pick up my food, I attempted to pay for the additional burger with a $50 bill. The cashier told me she would not accept a $50 bill for a $13 order. To be clear, I was not told that Five Guys does not accept $50 bills. I was told that she was not going to take a $50 bill for an order of that amount.
I found this especially frustrating because I had already spent approximately $70 on the original order. There was also no posted notice that I saw stating that $50 bills could not be used or that there was a minimum purchase required to use one.
Because the cashier would not accept my money, I had to leave Five Guys, drive to another store, purchase something simply to break the $50 bill, and then return to pay for the burger.
By the time I returned, my fries were cold, and my shake was not ready with the rest of my order.
What should have been a simple food pickup became an unnecessary inconvenience after I had already spent a significant amount of money at this location. If there is a policy regarding $50 bills or minimum purchase amounts, it should be clearly posted and consistently communicated to customers. If there isn’t such a policy, I don’t understand why my valid cash payment was refused.
Very disappointing experience, and definitely not the level of customer service I expected from Five Guys.
Addendum: I was honestly too upset at the time to include this in my original review, but Five Guys never gave me my burger.
The $13 cheeseburger I mentioned was actually for my husband. When he came home after 9:00 p.m., he noticed that there was no burger for me. That’s right—after everything else that happened with this order, my burger was missing too.
I called the restaurant and was told that they had already realized they forgot to give me my burger. Yet no one contacted me to let me know.
They offered to “comp” me a burger, but I’m confused about how that is compensation when I already paid for a burger that I never received. Replacing something I paid for and did not receive is not a complimentary burger—it is simply giving me what I purchased in the first place.
So, to add to the original experience: cold fries, a missing shake, the issue with accepting my $50 bill, and an entire paid-for burger that never made it into my order.
This experience somehow managed to get worse after I left the restaurant.

I’m not sure what happened at this location, but ever since they changed the staff, the experience has been completely different. The service has gone downhill, the fries portions are much smaller, and even the peanuts were stale like they were sitting out for a long time. It feels like the attention to quality just isn’t there anymore.

This is always a great place to grab a burger and fries. Service is always friendly, and they are good about handling our food allergies.

What is the Five Guys story/How did you guys get your name?
Five Guys began its pursuit to redefine the global burger landscape in 1986 when Jerry and Janie Murrell asked three of their sons whether they wanted to start a business or go to college. Now, three decades after our first location opened in Arlington, Va., Five Guys – a fast-casual restaurant chain named for the Murrells' five sons – serves a classic take on hamburgers, fries and milkshakes in more than 1,700 locations across 24 countries.
You can read more about the story of Five Guys at www.FiveGuys.com!
How many restaurants does Five Guys have?
As of January 2026, we have more than 1,900 locations in over 24 countries!
Does Five Guys offer delivery?
Most North American locations offer delivery. The best way to find out if the location nearest to you offers delivery is to visit our website or download the app.
Additionally, we work with all major third-party delivery companies in the U.S., including DoorDash and Uber, so feel free to search for Five Guys through their platforms!
Does Five Guys offer gluten-free options?
The only products we offer that contain gluten are our buns, hot dogs (Canada only), HP sauce (UK only), and the malt vinegar condiment for our fries. In Canada, our Poutine Gravy condiment also contains gluten. All of our sandwiches, including burgers, hot dogs and the veggie sandwich, are available without a bun via our wrap or bowls.
While our crew members do all they can to avoid it, there is always a risk of cross-contamination. Please review our nutritional, ingredient and allergen chart for the most accurate information.
Why does Five Guys have peanuts for free?
Serving peanuts for free began as a way for people to pass the time while they waited for us to cook up their meals (way back in the day, before smartphones). It was such a hit, and has become such a Five Guys tradition, that we keep our stores stocked with peanuts to this day.
What is the best way to reheat leftover fries?
Leftover fries are excellent reheated in the oven (or Air Fryer). According to Chad Murrell, one of the Five Guys, just pop them in a 350-degree oven for about 10-15 minutes.
Also, give those leftover fries a try as hash browns, home fries, or even as the filling in an omelet.
Why is Five Guys switching from a fry cup to a fry bag?
We are switching to fry bags to ensure your fries stay fresher and as part of our larger commitment to the environment. The bags allow air to circulate better, so fries stay fresh during delivery and takeout. Same portions, same great fries – just smarter packaging that’s also better for the environment.
