Not gonna lie, I was excited... a Gio's so close to the house? Awesome.
This place opened a few months ago, and I've heard very mixed reviews, everything from "this is the best ever ever ever!" to "avoid this place with every ounce of your being." so I was interested to see which experience I'd get.
Sadly, it was about as far away from excellent as you can get.
I placed an online order about 4pm on a Sunday. One thin cheese for my boys, one small deep dish for my wife and I.
Arrived and told them my name, guy goes to get my order. To his credit, he thought the order felt a little light (weight wise). Took the pizzas to the back and comes out "oohh... there was an error. There's two thin pizzas here." The deep dish I ordered for my wife and I was a thin.
I get it, things happen. I worked at a restaurant when I was younger, so I get it. They did offer to remake it, but that was another half hour etc.
I indicate "you know, that's alright, just credit me the difference." That is me, being flexible and accommodating. The order I made and paid for was not correct, but I'm offering to accept it with the proper compensation. I'm told "because you made the order online, we can't do that." Dude... what?
Instead, dude wrote on my receipt "tell them {name redacted} says $12 off your next order"
Already, I'm thinking there probably isn't going to be a second time, as I'm already not impressed.
Get home, open up the boxes and the one they did make right (the thin cheese) is waaaay overdone. The crust is black along the edges, the cheese is very dark, it's obvious this was in the oven too long.
My kids look at and ask "is it supposed to be like this?" No pal, it's not.
So my wife calls in, she explains I ordered and I was just in... the incorrect order etc. The guy tells her "well I could just refund the order." (At this point, you should).
My wife says "that's fine, but I still need to feed my kids" (this was dinner after all). They ask her to bring back the incorrect product, well, the correct incorrect product for replacement.
My wife was given a replacement and I asked "so are they crediting the order?" (I still think they should). She says "I don't know, who knows?" Then she told me it took her a couple extra minutes because the manager guy "had to look up the order to make sure it wasn't ordered well done" dude, come on. If I ordered that, I'd be quite happy with it. But how dare you be so petty to get an order wrong, barely acknowledge it and then try to be like "maybe YOU just ordered wrong..."
So yeah, I seriously doubt they're going to credit the order (though they should) and judging on all the automated, BS responses to these reviews, this won't even be read by a human or properly addressed, so I'm just wasting my time writing this.
So yeah, there will not be a second time.
There are other places nearby to get pizza, go there instead.
EDIT: only a couple hours after I posted this, got the typical, automated, BS response. So again, there will not be a second time.
