My son purchased two coffee shakes—one tasted fine, but the other had a noticeably sour taste. We stopped drinking it immediately because we were worried there might be an issue with the milk or another ingredient. I called the store to explain the situation and request a refund. The employee who answered was polite and apologetic, but we were told that we would have to bring the shake back to the store. It was not practical for us to make another trip simply to resolve a problem with one bad shake. What bothered me most was the feeling that the manager did not believe us. We were not asking for anything unreasonable—only a refund for a shake that tasted sour. An apology without a practical resolution is not acceptable customer service. This experience has raised a serious concern about the freshness and handling of the ingredients used in the shakes at this location. I hope Five Guys investigates this properly, and I also believe the appropriate local health authority should inspect the store to ensure its dairy products, storage temperatures, equipment, and food-safety procedures meet the required standards.
