I just got back from the drive thru at the Montgomery, IL Sonic location on Ogden Ave. Though I expressed my displeasure and hope for future patience with the carhop herself, I wanted to bring the situation to your attention. I am a person who stutters. Not like, "Oh yeah, I stutter over my words sometimes." A person who stutters as in diagnosed by a speech-language pathologist. Drive thrus are hard. Usually, people are very patient and kind with me. When I started my order today at the Sonic in Montgomery, IL, I could tell that the carhop was rushing me. So I stopped, told her that I stutter, and explained that I would appreciate her patience. She proceeded to interrupt me and cut my order off before I was finished. I yelled back that I was not finished and she gave me attitude back by saying, "Then what do you want?" I finished the order, fuming with rage. When I got to the window, I explained that I stutter, drive thrus are hard, and I would appreciate if she extended some patience in the future to other customers who stutter. She took it well, even though she did try to say, "Well I didn't know [that you stutter]," even though I did say that. I know there aren't a lot of people who stutter in the country or the world, but it would be nice to know that this location treats us like everyone else: with patience and kindness. Thanks!
