  I stopped at this Chipotle intending to purchase five bowls and a burrito, but I left without ordering anything because I was extremely concerned by what I observed and disappointed by how the employees responded when I raised a food safety concern. While food was exposed on the serving line, an employee was spraying a cleaning product on nearby surfaces. I could visibly see the spray mist traveling toward and landing in the area of the exposed food. I immediately asked her to stop and explained that the cleaning spray appeared to be getting on food that was being served to customers. Her response was simply, “Well, I need to clean the surfaces.” When I explained that the concern was not whether the surfaces needed cleaning, but that cleaning chemicals should not be sprayed in a manner that allows mist to come into contact with exposed food, my concern was largely dismissed. Multiple employees rolled their eyes or appeared not to understand why this was a serious issue. I then explained the situation to another employee who came forward. She similarly responded that they needed to clean the surfaces. I asked whether she would serve that food to her own mother knowing that cleaning-spray mist had landed on it. She responded, “No, I wouldn’t.” Yet when I continued to express my concern, she told me, “But you don’t have to eat here.” That response was particularly troubling. Customers should not have to choose between accepting food they reasonably believe may have been exposed to cleaning chemicals or leaving the restaurant. I chose to leave without purchasing the five bowls and burrito I had intended to order. My concern is not merely poor customer service; it is the potential food-safety issue I personally observed and the apparent lack of concern shown by several employees after it was brought to their attention. I strongly encourage Chipotle management to investigate what occurred at this location, review the applicable cleaning and food-safety procedures with the staff, and determine whether any exposed food should have been discarded after the incident. I was extremely disappointed by both what I observed and the way a legitimate customer safety concern was handled.

  Chipotle decided to take down my review for some reason, its too bad i didnt save the entire book i wrote about how bad the experience was. Smallest burrito EVER received Huge cilantro in the rice (lazy cutters) im not a fan of the cilantro so usually i can deal with it, but there were huge chunks. Girl on front line doesnt understand portion sizes.. as if it depends on her wages. Needs proper training, especially when the customer requests a little bit more and a tiny bit is given. No ice in the pop machine, the cashier when asked if we wanted anything else and i responded with 2 drinks neglected to mention the fact that there was no ice in the machine and you cant see the pop machine until after you check out. Seems like something you should mention to a paying customer, dont you think?? So my husband and i did not enjoy our warm fanta or warm coke. And lastly the chips were the stalest chipotle chips I've also ever had. Training should be reevaluated to teach first in first out and if the chips are old throw them away, do not give them to a paying customer. As someone who used to work in the industry where chips were freshly made every day to serve with chips and salsa.. these chips were mostly definitely more than several days old. I have attached previous review from my other email that was taken down and seems like chipotle even responded but on 8/27 but it has since been removed. Thats ironic? Weird! giving 2 stars so its harder to take down this time. Overall experience here was NOT GOOD. and will not be back to the libertyville location ever and the fact that the review was removed makes it worse because this was a REAL experience lol. its honestly crazy to pay $40 for two burritos, stale chips and drinks that used to be half the price and to be served a burrito half the size i normally get is even crazier.

  ⭐️ Very confusing experience with the pickup-only policy I stopped by the Chipotle in Libertyville hoping to place a quick order. I completely understand if the restaurant is temporarily not allowing dine-in customers due to maintenance or other issues. However, what I don’t understand is why customers who are physically standing inside the restaurant cannot simply place an order at the counter for pickup. I was told that I had to order online and then pick it up inside. If customers are already allowed to come inside to pick up their food, why can’t the staff simply take the order inside as well? I wasn’t asking to dine in or use a table—I was perfectly fine taking my food to go. The policy just seems unnecessarily complicated and inconvenient for customers. I hope management can reconsider this approach. If the restaurant is open and employees are able to prepare pickup orders, it would make much more sense to allow customers who are already there to place a takeout order directly.
