Ordered a burnt end brisket from this place and was very disappointed. Not only was the meat mostly fat but they also charged $25 a couple chunks on top of a piece of Texas Toast bread.

went with my family to try and enjoy a good meal. place had one table before we got there and still waited an hour for our food that came out cold. tables that came in 15 minutes after we ordered got their food before us. service wasn’t the best either. decided to take food to leave and nothing was done to try and fix our experience. $100 for 3 people and bad food.

Beware of surcharges and avoid the garlic parmesan french fries! Our group decided this month’s event would be at BBQ King. The restaurant was noisy and the service was slow but there were bigger gripes. When the garlic parmesan french fries arrived, they had three white bits that looked like melted plastic squares. I asked the waiter about them and she said that was parmesan. I tasted one of the bits and it had no flavor. If it was parmesan, it was pretty poor and certainly sparse. Really, only three small pieces of parm on a $12 appetizer? And I think they forgot the garlic. If there was any garlic flavoring, it was minuscule. The biggest problem was the surprise surcharge on our bills. As a group, we complained about the surcharges. We were told it was there to help keep prices low. How does a surcharge keep prices low if they are passed on to customers as a surprise on the bill? As a consumer base, we need to push back on surcharges. I believe we should send the message to establishments that surcharges are not a good idea and will ultimately drive away customers.

We visited the BBQ King Smokehouse and Tavern while at the Ribfest event in Elkhorn Wisconsin. We found the food to be fine, although it was overpriced. $21 for a small serving of Mac and cheese with brisket and onions. Two tiny pieces of dry cornbread for $8. You get the picture. Our biggest disappointment was from the additional $10 tip that was automatically added to our bill. We did use a credit card and understand that there is usually a small fee with that. However, there was no option on the touchpad to skip leaving a tip. We prefer leaving cash, which we did as well. The cashier flipped the screen around and said sign here and spun it back around very quickly. We assume that was when the tip was added. Very sneaky. This did not leave a good impression. But now we know how they do business. Lesson learned. Edit: We appreciate the owner responding to our review. At this time we have chosen to not request a refund. We are hopeful that this will lead to a teachable moment for your staff at these types of events to prevent other customers from experiencing the same disappointment. The rating has been adjusted to reflect the business making an effort to correct the issue.
