  Used to shop here daily until prices got out of control. Nobody’s paying $10 dollars a pound for chicken and $12 dollars a pound for ground beef with Wal Mart and Aldi a stones throw away.

  This Jewel has just about everything you would want very CLEAN inside the produce looks always fresh, deli was top notch even the fried chicken was fresh and juicy...I was surprised...but then to be fair, it was just made when I got to the counter...again a clean grocery store.

  I would like to report an unpleasant experience I had at the Gurnee Jewel-Osco store on June 24, 2026, at approximately 8:00 PM. Before I arrived, the self-checkout register system appeared to be having technical issues. When I attempted to scan my purchases, the register was not working properly. I raised my hand to get assistance, and an employee came over. She said something that I did not hear clearly, so I politely asked her to repeat it. At that point, her tone seemed dismissive and unfriendly, but I chose not to make an issue of it. After waiting approximately three minutes for the register to resume working, I scanned my items. I was purchasing six packs of cola that were part of a promotion where buying three packs would qualify for three additional packs free. The screen only showed three packs, so I assumed the promotion was being applied automatically. When I attempted to pay, the register requested employee assistance. The same employee came over and told me that I had not scanned all of the items. I explained that I had scanned all six packs, but she repeatedly stated, "You did not ring it up," in what I felt was a rude and confrontational manner. She then told me to scan the items again. At that point, I was frustrated and decided to finish paying  and leave with disappointment I understand that technical issues can occur and that employees may have stressful days. However, customers should still be treated with patience and professionalism. My concern is not the register malfunction itself, but the way I was spoken to during the interaction. I have also heard similar concerns from other customers regarding this employee's attitude. I respectfully ask that management review this incident and provide any necessary coaching or guidance to improve customer service.

  Vincent told us we could not get helped at 750pm at the service counter because they were understaffed. The service desk closes at 10pm. He was very rude in this interaction as though people had been bothering him all day. Which is not my problem. Corporate needs to hire better professionals in a customer service setting who deal with the general public.
