  I visit this Jewel multiple times a week. I rarely go to the hot foods section because it's never clear where the line starts. Most people stand in front of it without a number, and you have to keep track of who is there before you. Last Saturday I went around 3:30 pm, and there were no customers in that area, so I walked right up. There was an employee who looked right at me, but he was busy, so I just stood there and tried to figure out what I wanted to order. I asked my son to grab a number, just in case, and made a comment to him (my son) that I knew one item that I wanted, but was trying to decide if I wanted anything else. At that point the employee very rudely said that he would be with me in a moment. I don't know if he thought my comment to my son was directed at him, but his attitude continued from there. He finished what he was doing and asked what I wanted. I asked a question as to if the item I wanted to order was sold by the pound or what the sizing was, and he said, "It's whatever you want," so I ordered one pound of the item. He gave me the item and then asked if I wanted anything else, and I just said no, even though I had decided I wanted to add to my order. At that point, I just wanted to get out of there. His attitude with me was completely unjustified and made me super uncomfortable. Even my 13-year-old was taken aback and wanted to know why he had such an attitude with me for no reason. It really was off-putting, and I definitely won't be returning to that section of the deli.

  Jewelry is a great store to shop. Only drawback is the handicapped wheelchairs were not all charged so some people couldn't use them. They need to be ready every morning for the handicapped. Plus didn't seem to be enough of them. Cashier was fantastic. Everything was well stocked for a Friday.

  I love my friendly neighborhood Jewel. Not just the store is amazing, but the pharmacists are also great! My card declined and I couldn't pick up a prescription I needed. The pharmacist (Nisha) could see i was having a tough time with life at the time. She personally paid for my prescription. I was literally moved to tears. When I thanked her, she just said "you have beautiful kids...Just take care of those babies". Its ppl like Nisha that gave ppl like me hope to go on when I felt like giving up on life. Update: several weeks later I came in with a card for Nisha and the cash for the amount she loaned me (repayment). She thanked me for the nice card but refused to take the money, handing it back to me, again telling me to take care of "my babies". Be still my heart...ill never forget what this lady did for me. Thank you Nisha, Tara, Stephanie...for all you do!

  A nice clean store with a helpful staff. I recommend a light sweater in the summer as they keep the ac set pretty cold.

  The store is dirty, the shelves are claustrophobic, and the management is unhelpful. The only reason I'm giving this three stars is because of one employee, Tyler. This young boy helped me try and figure out how to use the coffee grinder machine despite himself not knowing how to use it. You see, unlike Whole Foods which has dedicated bags for grinding coffee, this archaic piece of technology only accepts the original coffee bags. However, the bag I had was too small to fit over the spout. So after some admittedly bewildered investigation, Tyler chooses to run to the produce section and get a produce bag to fill up with the grinds which would then be transferred to the coffee bag. That didn't work exactly so he then goes to the deli to get a plastic cup which would then transfer the grinds to the bag. All the while, he is pleading in his earpiece for a manager to come and assist. By the time the manager arrives, we already have the cup, the cup is appropriately transferring the grinds to the coffee bag but the manager has a look of angry confusion on his face. After explaining the situation, all he does is look at the machine, brush off some coffee detritus from the spout, then remarks, "Yea, stores are starting to get rid of these" and then walks away. Tyler stuck around till the end but the manager took one look, figured there was nothing to be done, and decides to abandon ship. I'm disappointed in the management but I want to use this post to sing the praises of Tyler. Jewel-Osco Grayslake, please accommodate this man, and should he ever find a job that better appreciates him, I hope that his managers does one good thing and gives him the proper referral he deserves.
