This is my second bad review about Krispy Kreme in Fairview Heights. It's been a year since my first one, and clearly nothing has changed there.
The employees are consistently inefficient, unprofessional, and unfriendly. During this visit, I waited 20 minutes in the drive-thru for just three original glazed doughnuts. I was never greeted at the speaker with anything more than, "Give me a minute." despite seeing multiple employees working inside.
I've also observed concerning hygiene practices. Employees wear gloves while handling doughnuts, but then use those same gloves to touch the register, wipe their faces, and handle other surfaces before continuing to serve food.
At the window, I was charged more than $7 for three original glazed doughnuts, which seemed unusually high, so when I was asked if I wanted a receipt, I said yes. The employee said "It won't print." And just stared at me as if me as the customer was supposed to fix the problem or simply give up and not bother her. So I responded with: Ok, can you email it to me? Without saying a word, she closed the window and walked away. Eventually she came back and handed me the wrong receipt.
The lack of customer service, professionalism, and basic problem-solving skills at this location is extremely disappointing.
At that point i just left and I contacted customer service because it was clear the staff was unwilling or unable to resolve even a simple issue.

Nice people, clean place... but no hot donuts till 7am??? Lol! Why open the doors at 6am? If you dont have fresh premuim product for your patrons? I have to be to work by 630. Working people need early bird hours... i mean it is a donut shop! In my youth they were open at 4 am. And had hot fresh partries when the opened

We ordered a hot caramel latte, a frozen caramel latte and a 10 ct glazed donut holes. The hot latte was called a medium but it was smaller than the medium frozen latte. My wife asked the drive thru attendant if she could make the hot latte a large and the young lady took the medium hot latte with her, and when she returned she collected payment and handed my wife the order, we left the drive thru and headed down the road. I opened the lid on the "hot" latte and found it to be cold and bitter, as if someone had poured the leftover coffee from a frozen latte into the cup. I couldn't believe I paid $7.00 for a drink I ordered and couldn't drink it. I don't plan to go to Krispy Kreme again after what happened to me.

Came in on National Donut Day excited to celebrate — grabbed the free donut and made an additional purchase, planning to use my app reward for a free donut of choice with that purchase. Simple enough, right?
Not here. The associate decided on the spot that the reward “doesn’t apply to these donuts” because they’re specialty. No signage, no policy, just her call. So we paid for the specialty donuts and were handed a plain one as our “free” choice. Fine — we let it go.
Then, as she rang up the first set of items, the system automatically made the last specialty donut free. So it turns out the reward did apply. Rather than acknowledging that, she cleared the cart entirely and re-rang everything so that the plain donut — the cheapest item — came up as the free one instead, which is exactly what she wanted from the start.
We paid for specialty donuts we should have gotten partially comped, all because an employee invented a restriction, got caught being wrong by her own register, and then manually worked around it.
What made it worse was the attitude throughout — no warmth, no acknowledgment, no apology. The vibe was that we were inconveniencing them by being customers on one of the busiest days of the year.
The donuts were fine. The experience left a bad taste that had nothing to do with the food. There are other Krispy Kreme locations — go to one of those.
