Okay so this is LONG but detailed.
I’m proud to say I’ve finally found my new ‘After Work’ food spot in Wicker Park. I stumbled upon Tacombi on Wednesday… came back to dine on Friday and Saturday, but my experience on SUNDAY 5/10 really placed the cherry on top. To get to the point. Food - 100/10 and that’s not even an exaggeration… it’s really that good. I tried the Crispy Fish, Birria and Carne Asada Tacos. So far, my favorite are the Birria & Crispy Fish but I heard the Shrimp was good too. Now I usually don’t eat the rice and beans because it can sometimes taste … tasteless… generic. Baby not Tacombi. The rice and beans were so fresh and tasted REAL I ate it with some of the homemade tortilla chips that were also really good. Since my visit last week, I’ve now went back 3 times to try different things on the menu.
This last visit on Mother’s Day… I was greeted by an energetic Oranged haired woman who enthusiastically welcomed me to the bar. I sat there ready to order like I’ve done the past few days I visited… but this time Aryannys made sure to grab me a menu right away and engage with me. I’m a talker so people talk to me all the time but ARYANNYs interacted with me that made me feel familiar rather than a customer. She’s was friendly , welcoming and introdu ed things on the menu that made me eager to hear more. I’ve visited 2 times before but this was the first time I was informed about the Tacombi App, $5 off AND the happy hours, so thank you Aryannys.
Manager Chris notified me that it was going to be a small wait for my order which I had no problem with because while I waited… I got to know more of the staff and found out we were basically all Leo’s 😅
Ultimately, Tacombi is now one of my go to spots in Wicker Park that will see me regularly due to the supper friendly staff and undeniably good food. Thank You Aryannys, Manger Chris, Chef Nick, Suzanne, Liz & Jessica… you make Tacombi feel like home.

My friend and I stopped by this restaurant while shopping around Wicker Park. When we walked in, it looked like a nice, authentic Mexican spot — I even joked with the host about whether their tacos al pastor were Mexico City–style. I ordered two tacos and my friend got a burrito. My chicken tacos had a slightly fishy smell, but we didn’t think much of it since we were both hungry. Service was fine, nothing particularly memorable.
Unfortunately, the aftermath was rough. We both ended up sick with diarrhea from the food and were up all night. For a $6 taco and a $15 burrito, getting food poisoning was definitely not on my bingo card. The food tasted good at the time, but the experience afterward made it not worth it. If you care about your health, I’d stay away.

We walked into this place not knowing a thing about it and it was the BEST decision we made. The tacos are incredible, everything was so fresh and delicious!! Everything is made fresh every morning and you can really tell, the staff is phenomenal as well. Seriously these were the best tacos I’ve had in Chicago. Couldn’t recommend checking this place out more!
