My Titi and I came to Soul Vibez on Chicago Ave for our final night in the CHI, and baby… they did NOT disappoint! 😋🔥 The food, drinks, and vibes were ALL on point. Definitely the kind of place you want to end your Chicago trip on!
We started with the Charbroiled Oysters, and they were so good we knew we were in for a treat. For dinner, my Titi had the Fried Catfish with red rice & beans and collard greens, with a side of cornbread. I went with the Stuffed Salmon, paired with mac & cheese and sweet potatoes. Everything was flavorful, seasoned just right, and had us doing that little “mmm-hmmm” head nod after every bite. 😂
And let's talk about the DRINKS! 🍹 We had the Lavender Lemon Drop and two Side Cars — peach and blackberry. Every single one was yummy, but that Blackberry Side Car? Yeah… she was the star of the show for me! 😂💜
A special shoutout to our server Shay! She was so kind, attentive, and gave us some great suggestions. Our girl was HUSTLING — serving tables AND making amazing cocktails behind the bar. Talk about multitasking! 👏🏽
And thank you Derrick for running quarterback and hooking me up with that Blackberry Side Car! 😂🍹
Overall, Soul Vibez gave us exactly what we needed for our last night in the CHI — good food, good drinks, good energy, and even better service. 💕🏽
10/10 — would absolutely come back! When I’m back in the CHI, Soul Vibez is definitely going back on the list. 🥂✨

This is very small location compare to the other location in Chicago. It's a hole in the wall, but it became cozy and vibrant! Both the workers and patrons are very nice. The waiter, Derrick was very very welcoming and helpful! He recommended a drink called Dusse Island and it was fantastic! Derrick is also the bartender so that helped. I also ordered chicken wings with greens and mac cheese. Everything was delicious and portions were generous! It's too bad that I was staying at a hotel so I had to forego a doggie bag. It's best to arrive before 6 for dinner. This is real, down home soul food restaurant!

We went into Soul Vibez to dine in but decided to carry out. We ordered 2 chicken wing dinners. One with double fries and the other with Mac and cheese and greens. Also my wife ordered cornbread and a soul roll. The wings were supposed to be hot honey with ranch dressing. They charged us an extra $2.00 for the sauce that suppose to be on the wings and $2 for the ranch dressing in a small plastic cup. After paying $75 for 2 four piece wing dinners they charged us another $18 for a service charge. How can you charge me a service charge and I didn’t dine in? After we gave them our credit to pay the bill I asked for a receipt to have proof of these outrageous charges. We received no service inside but was charged for it anyway. I asked the person who took our order ( Derrick ) to have it removed but he said it was nothing they could do about it since I already paid it. This is the reason a so called Black owned establishment can’t make it. I’ll never go back to this restaurant and advise you to check your bill or ask what they are charging you for while you’re ordering. That was our mistake.

I have been a regular customer for quite some time and usually visit several times a month, which made this experience even more disappointing. I placed an $81 delivery order through the restaurant’s app. Hours later, I discovered it had been marked undeliverable without anyone contacting me.. when I went to the app, the app told me to contact the restaurant about my undeliverable order. I called the restaurant multiple times with no answer, then drove 20 minutes and paid for parking just to figure out what happened.
Once I arrived, I was repeatedly told to contact the delivery service. And that there was nothing that they can do in regards to a refund. I explained several times that I ordered directly through the restaurant’s app and not through Uber, and that I shouldn’t have to resolve an issue with a delivery company the restaurant chose to use. Instead of someone taking ownership, I was passed from employee to employee and then to the owner/ manager. . While the refund was eventually processed, it only happened after I spent about a hour trying to get answers. And explaining that I wasn’t going to pay for another meal and I didn’t get the first meal.
Mistakes happen, and I understand deliveries can go wrong. What disappointed me most was the customer service. At no point did anyone apologize for the unanswered phone calls, the inconvenience of driving to the restaurant, the time I lost, or the fact that I went without the meal I ordered. A sincere apology and someone taking ownership would have gone a long way.
I came in as a loyal customer and left feeling like solving the problem had become my responsibility. Unfortunately, because of how this situation was handled, I won’t be returning.

I visited the new Soul Vibez location for lunch with three of my coworkers, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. What made it even more surprising was that we arrived before they had officially opened, so I expected the food to be fresh and well prepared.
I ordered the Salmon Alfredo, and it was unfortunately one of the most underwhelming Alfredo dishes I’ve had. It tasted as though the pasta had simply been topped with jarred Alfredo sauce, with little to no seasoning or flavor. The dish was also inconsistent in temperature—some bites were hot while others were cold. The salmon itself was overcooked, dry, and tough. I also ordered garlic bread with my meal, but it never arrived.
One of my coworkers ordered the catfish, greens, and macaroni and cheese. She mentioned that the catfish was slightly overcooked, and the greens were extremely salty. Another coworker ordered grilled catfish with beans and rice but instead received macaroni and cheese. Fortunately, the employee delivering the food quickly realized the mistake and brought out the correct side of beans and rice.
I do want to recognize our waitress, who was very pleasant and courteous throughout our visit. Unfortunately, she didn’t return to our table until much later, and because we were on our lunch break with limited time, I wasn’t able to let her know how dissatisfied I was with my meal or request a replacement.
What makes this especially disappointing is that I was the one who recommended Soul Vibez to my coworkers. I’ve dined at the Chicago location before and had a great experience, so I was excited to try the new location. Sadly, this visit did not meet my expectations.
I genuinely hope this was just an off day because I know the restaurant is capable of much better. However, based on this experience, I don’t see myself returning to this location or recommending it to others at this time.
