  I finally got the chance to visit this place after seeing so many good video reviews. The establishment was clean and loved the decor. The staff was really nice. I ordered three dinners and an appetizer to go and food came out really quick after about 20 min. We got there around 2:30. They opened at 1pm so I don’t understand why my food was dried out the way it was. Mainly the stuffed salmon (not pictured) was dry. The egg rolls were disgusting and tasted like they were cooked the previous day. Greens were good, just dry. Mind you when I made it home the food was still warm so I didn’t need to reheat it. So disappointed.

  I really wanted to love this place. Everything was so fun and customer friendly. First, the pros: - The vibe clearly reflects the popularity of the spot. It was lively, and the small space helps encourage the exciting vibe. - The catfish was outstanding and fried perfectly. I am not a catfish person, but the hot honey catfish sandwich sounded amazing. I chose the catfish dinner with the hot honey on the side and got a biscuit, eggs, and creole grits on the side. - The deviled eggs and oysters appetizers were perfection enough to make the entire drive and bill worth it. Outstanding. Trust me and do yourself a favor and get both! - The Soul Rolls were so unique and tasty, they are also worth a try. And on to the cons.. Despite the great vibe, it was just a bit too loud (not from the guests, but from the music and TVs). - Some of the staple menu items just fell flat. I was especially disappointed because our server strongly urged us to try the eggs, and they were just not it. The creole grits were flavorless and mine were not hot, with some parts feeling cool to taste. The biscuit was so hard I could hardly break it apart. I couldn't finish any part of my entree other than the catfish. Whenever I go back, I will spend most of my money on the appetizer items that I loved and add a side or two.

  Soul Vibez, somebody in that kitchen is cooking with LOVE, and I need them to know we felt every bit of it! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My son and I visited the West Chicago Avenue location on Sunday night, and the experience was wonderful from the moment we arrived. We were able to park, walk in, and get a table immediately. Zero wait time! The hostess and everyone who greeted us were so pleasant and welcoming. Add in the music and atmosphere, and the vibe was already right before the food even hit the table. We started with the charbroiled oysters and the Soul Trio Platter, and listen… those appetizers could have been the whole reason to come back. It was my son’s first time trying oysters, and Soul Vibez has officially created an oyster lover! They tasted fresh, clean, and absolutely delicious. One bite, and I almost forgot I was in Chicago. I was looking around for New Orleans! The platter gave us hot honey wings, jerk egg rolls, and fried green tomatoes. Those wings were crispy, flavorful, and coated in that delicious hot honey goodness. The kind of good that makes conversation stop for a minute. The jerk egg rolls and dipping sauce were equally delicious. And the fried green tomatoes? Cooked to perfection, with an amazing remoulade. Another first for my son, and another instant favorite. We were already at “10 out of 10, would recommend,” and hadn’t even reached our entrées! I ordered the Big Zaddy Surf & Turf with salmon bites, lamb chops, and mashed potatoes. That beautiful glaze on the lamb deserved its own round of applause. And the tenderness?! Somebody call Mr. Tenderism, because these lamb chops needed an inspection! Tender, flavorful, and so good that my only complaint was wanting more. More, more, MORE. The best way I can describe it is that the chef was trying to hug each customer through the food. That is exactly how this meal felt. My son ordered the chicken wing plate with macaroni and cheese and collard greens. Yes, he ordered wings after having wings as an appetizer. That should tell you everything! His chicken arrived fresh, hot, and beautifully seasoned. The macaroni and cheese tasted like it came straight out of Big Mama’s kitchen, and the collard greens were delicious. As a Southern girl, I felt right at home at that table. The service was fast, the welcome was warm, the music was good, and the food gave us plenty to talk about between bites. Sharing those first food experiences with my son made the evening even better. Soul Vibez absolutely lived up to its name. A whole vibe, with plenty of soul. We would happily come back. Whoever is in that kitchen, please keep doing what you’re doing! ❤️

  Very lackluster food and painfully slow service. We were seated second or third in line, yet saw people who arrived long after us get served first. The salmon rolls were dry, the lamb chops were completely overcooked (no one asked how we wanted them prepared), and the lobster & grits portion was tiny, sweet, and gummy. The Soul Rolls were just alright. On the plus side, the drinks were really good, and the fried green tomatoes were great, but they were nowhere near enough to make up for the rest of the meal. To top it all off, they automatically add an 18% gratuity plus an additional 3% service fee when you pay with a card. Paying mandatory auto-gratuity on slow, uncoordinated service and sub-par food leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Wouldn't recommend. P.S. The place only has 3 regular-size booths and one large group booth!

  I gave this place 3 stars because the food was good and the bartender was pretty nice. However, the atmosphere was disappointing. As soon as you walk in, it smells like weed, and the location is extremely small. They really should make it clear that this location is better suited for carryout.The place looked outdated and honestly didn’t seem like much money had been invested into it.Also, the menu didn’t have prices listed. I didn’t really trip about it at first because I figured what I ordered wouldn’t come up to that much. Boy, was I wrong! My bill came out to over $100. NEVER AGAIN! My question is, if you’re charging that much for the food, why does the restaurant look the way it does? The prices definitely didn’t match the atmosphere or the condition of the location.Overall, I won’t be returning. With the connections she has, I honestly think she should consider getting some help to remodel and update the location because it has a lot of potential.
