  I’ve come here a few times with my husband and this is by far the worst meal we have ever tasted. Everything taste the same, Everything was the same color, It was all mushy, And it had no flavor at all, not even salt. I won’t Let this be my last time visiting because I have not had a bad experience until this one time. But this was my worst experience ever. We didn’t even eat the food. We just threw the whole plate away. We should’ve came and got our money back, but we just live too far. Y’all need to do better

  My Wife and I are from Chicago. We were going to travel to another state for a vegan festival but she wanted to come back home. The food in Chicago just tastes better to us. She looked on tiktok for vegan restaurants in Chicago and this gem popped up on the Southside. Even crazier is we actually lived in this area when we were teenagers so it was perfect. We walked in lost but walked out in love. We ate like foodies but full meals and took some home. It looked so good I didn't think about taking pictures I just jumped in. They have a hot and cold bar that you can sample the food before buying. Loved that because some vegan restaurants have a good appearance but the food has no flavor. They just brought out the bourbon chicken and we sampled it. Definitely wanted it but we grabbed what we came for. She had the Italian V dipped, vegan version of Italian beef. She said it tasted like it and I believed her because she didn't offer me a taste like she usually does. I returned the favor as I started eating the Gyro with fries. Everything about it was delicious. I was not disappointed being a former Gyro eater. I ate it like I hadn't eaten in days. I literally inhaled it. Next round not even five minutes after finishing I ordered the sloppy Joe with fries, she had the jerk nachos. I never had sloppy Joe with pickles on it but it was actually good. Both were on point. I ate it so fast she didn't realize I ate it all. She couldn't eat all her nachos so she saved them and finished the rest of it the next day with the peanut butter cookies she bought. She said she wished she got more of them. I had a slice of marble cake which I couldn't believe it was vegan because it tasted so good. I was mad I didn't get another piece. We sampled the ice cream and it was so creamy like soft serve on a cone, also delicious. We did some weigh options for the trip home which included the Mac and cheese, beef and broccoli, bourbon chicken and lasagna. All ridiculously good. We got my Mother in law the bourbon chicken, cabbage, rice, zucchini and mac and cheese. She called my Wife 5 minutes after leaving saying she didn't get her enough bourbon chicken.😆 As soon as we got home we warmed our food up and ate all of it. Needless to say we will be returning so we can try everything on the menu. Vegans and Non Vegans will enjoy the food. If I could give them 20 stars I would. Patient and polite staff and the atmosphere is calming.

  I don’t live in the Chi, but as a near 20 year vegan, I have frequented Soul Veg dozens of times over almost 2 decades. Recently, I was working in Chicago from 13Aug-18Sep and fist-fought the Dan Ryan every chance I got so I could get my Soul Veg fix. Unfortunately, my appetite has fled, so I couldn’t do my usual “try all the things.” I loaded up at that hot bar and had food for the next 3-4 days. The food on the hot and cold bar rotates daily. But I was never disappointed with the offerings because there are always at least a few things that I like. Whenever they have anything with broccoli in it, I get that. It’s usually a tofu + broccoli combo, and the broccoli is always seasoned to the gawds! Cabbage and sweet potatoes are two more of my favorites here. And it’s so easy for me to eat gluten free with their offerings too. (Disclaimer: I avoid gluten due to sensitivity issues; non-celiac. So I do not know if it’s safe for those with celiac disease.) The juices in the fridge are good too. I got several hibiscus and ginger bottles. I finally tried a smoothie from here, the Very Berry with agave. It was delicious. They have WiFi, so I could do some work and eat before I put back on my boxing gloves to fight my way back to my hotel in Orland Park. Of note, most employees are very nice. Don’t allow the few with bad attitudes to keep you away from this long-standing local community gem.

  Was taken here by my sister and brother-in-law when they came to visit not too long ago. The food was awesome and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Friendly staff, and people, I can't recommend it enough.

  I loved everything I ordered besides the Mac and cheese however my non vegan friend loved it so much so hey it’s me. The vegan ckn sandwhich was definitely in the top three I’ve ever had and my daughter said it was the best smoothie she had. She did the strawberry heaven something. We tried so many things so it’s hard to say what I loved most but I will say this place definitely don’t disappoint and definitely highly recommend if you only have time for one stop in Chicago. Of the two I went to this was my favorite of the two although both were really great. I wanted to come back and order more before leaving however I didn’t make it back in time before close. Would return again. Get ready. They are busy busy but it’s so worth it. The team here really stays so busy.
