This is amazing place to have a tasty Italian dinner. Homemade
Very disappointing experience. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Despite having a reservation, we had to wait 15 minutes before being seated, supposedly because of a problem in the kitchen, even though several tables were clearly empty.
When we asked for water, we were told that only bottled water was available. However, once our pasta had been served, we noticed that other tables around us were being given pitchers of water with ice. It is difficult to understand why we were initially refused!
Another unpleasant surprise: the prices were $5 to $10 higher than those advertised online, supposedly because it was Chicago Marathon day.
Finally, when the bill arrived, a 20% tip had been added automatically, along with an additional 3% credit card processing fee.
Unjustified waiting time, inconsistent service, prices that differ from those advertised, and extra charges: a disappointing lack of transparency.
I would not recommend this restaurant.
Took forever to get food, over an hour. Restaurant was 1/2 empty. No one came by to refill water. No apologies. And, service was included in the bill. No asking if we needed anything. Terrible, won’t come back.

I honestly don’t understand how this restaurant has such high ratings.
We specifically asked about non-alcoholic drinks since none were listed on the menu. After initially pointing me toward the wine, cocktails, and beer, I had to repeat that I meant non-alcoholic options. We ordered a non-alcoholic beer, but the server brought the wrong one and was about to take the bottle away until I stopped him and asked if it was actually non-alcoholic.
But the food was by far the biggest problem. We ordered the burrata, focaccia, Margherita pizza, and pappardelle with duck.
The burrata was probably the only thing we found remotely decent, and even that came sitting on top of a very watery red sauce that was not appetizing.
The focaccia was hard and didn’t taste fresh. We also noticed the table next to us barely touched theirs.
The Margherita pizza genuinely looked and tasted like something that had been frozen and reheated. Honestly, I think a frozen grocery-store pizza would have been better.
The pappardelle was the worst dish of the night. The sauce had an overwhelming acidity, and the duck leg simply didn’t taste good. And then there was the arugula. It seemed like arugula was being used as decoration on absolutely everything: the pizza, the pasta, and other dishes we saw coming out of the kitchen. It didn’t add anything and just made the dishes look thrown together.
The biggest problem is that we couldn’t actually eat the food. We took essentially one bite of each dish and left almost everything untouched. The server did kindly bring us containers to take it home, but we had no desire to take home food that we hadn’t been able to eat in the first place.
Our bill was about $98 before tip, which admittedly isn’t expensive for Chicago, especially Fulton Market. But $98 is still a lot of money to spend on a dinner where we essentially ate nothing.
The atmosphere wasn’t great either. The restaurant was extremely loud despite having only a handful of tables, and the music on top of that made it even harder to have a conversation. It felt like there was an issue with the acoustics that hadn’t been addressed.
Unfortunately, this experience felt completely out of step with the level of food and service I would expect in this neighborhood.
I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I would genuinely warn visitors and tourists not to choose this restaurant simply because it has availability when other Fulton Market restaurants are booked. Our experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish.
Maybe we caught them on an exceptionally bad night, but based on everything we experienced and what we saw coming out of the kitchen, I would not take the chance again.
We came hungry, spent $98, and left hungry. That pretty much says it all.

Truly some of the best Italian food I’ve had in Chicago! I don’t know how this place was so empty, which is probably the only negative thing I can say about the restaurant. The food is all homemade and delicious, wait staff is attentive, they have a beautiful patio for when the weather is nice. Do yourself a favor and get dessert - the creme brûlée and pannacotta were amazing.
