  Way to go Panera bread staff I had an outstanding experience this morning at Panera Bread. At 7:26 AM, you don’t always expect top-tier energy but Jessica completely delivered. She was alert, lively, and genuinely kind. Talking to her honestly gave me a positive start to my entire day. I had a very specific order an everything bagel, toasted, with cream cheese, tomatoes, and bacon and she got every detail exactly right without missing a beat. Service with a smile, and it felt real. When I picked up my order, Shantel was just as pleasant. It’s like they both had the same happy coffee friendly, welcoming, and a joy to interact with. This is what great customer service looks like early in the morning. Bravo to the team at Panera on South Canal Street—excellent hires, a clean and inviting atmosphere, and a staff that truly sets the tone for your day. I’ll absolutely be back when I’m visiting Chicago again so glad I stopped in. Cheers, Lindsay from New York

  Came in a few days ago. I ordered at the kiosk. My order went through. I was called over a few minutes later to let me know they didn't have enough bagels to fulfill my order. I asked to get refunded back for what was not going to be able to be fulfilled. The young lady went to go talk to what I assume was either a manager or supervisor. Came back to the front and continued to work on my order from what was available. She handed me my items and I asked about the refund. Apparently it was sent to me digitally since I ordered at the kiosk. To make a long story short I was not refunded the tax amount to the cancelled items. I was just refunded the pretax amount. When I questioned it I was told that taxes are charged for the order not per the cost. I told the manager/supervisor that did not seem correct. I guess that bothered her so she became snippy with me. I told her I wasn't going to argue over some change in which she then dismissed me by saying bye. Extremely rude and unprofessional.

  I didn’t realize this location no longer has seating but there are benches in the main complex so I was able to sit there!

  The morning manager, black female with red hair and glasses is ONLY nice & polite with black customers but loud, not nice nor polite towards customers who are Latinos, Asians & whites. You can see a big difference in her body language and tone of voice in treating NON black customers.
