I visited Magnolia Bakery expecting a pleasant experience, and while the cappuccinos and banana pudding were good, the customer service was incredibly disappointing.
We ordered two cappuccinos, and the employee taking our order immediately gave us an annoyed look. To make matters worse, the barista preparing the drinks loudly said, "Really!?" in an irritated tone as soon as she heard the order. It made us feel like we were inconveniencing them simply by ordering coffee.
It's honestly disappointing to be treated that way as a customer. If preparing coffee is such a problem, then why offer it on the menu? Good food and drinks can't make up for poor customer service. I hope the staff receives better customer service training because no customer should feel unwelcome for placing a simple order.
I stopped by Magnolia Bakery during my visit to Chicago, and it was the perfect place to satisfy my sweet tooth. The bakery has a bright, cozy atmosphere with a tempting display of cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and other freshly made desserts.
I ordered their famous banana pudding along with a red velvet cupcake, and both were absolutely delicious. The banana pudding was creamy, light, and full of fresh banana flavor, while the cupcake was moist with rich cream cheese frosting. Every bite tasted fresh and homemade.
The staff was friendly, patient, and happy to recommend some of their best-selling desserts. Even though the bakery was busy, the service was quick, and the shop was clean and inviting.
One tip: if it's your first visit, don't leave without trying the banana pudding—it's their signature dessert for a reason. If you're with friends, grab a few different treats to share so you can sample more of the menu.
Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Magnolia Bakery - Chicago. Thank you to the entire team for the amazing desserts, excellent service, and welcoming atmosphere. I'll definitely stop by again the next time I'm in Chicago.

If you're stopping by, don't leave without trying the banana pudding. It's rich, smooth, and filled with fresh banana slices that taste perfectly ripe. The vanilla wafers become soft as they soak up the creamy pudding, giving every spoonful a great texture. It's sweet enough to satisfy a craving without feeling too heavy. I finally understand why everyone talks about it, and I'd happily order another serving the next time I'm here.
I ordered banana pudding for my family, and the container my sister was eating contained a long piece of cloth. She was in the process of swallowing her last spoonful of pudding when she felt something long going down her throat. Fortunately, she was able to pull it out before she fully swallowed it.
I contacted the restaurant and spoke with the shift supervisor to inform them of the incident. I also requested that they submit an incident report.
Additionally, I submitted a complaint to the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), City of Chicago Food Protection Division, to report the incident.
The hype is a lie, the mrs has been looking forward to this for idk how long it was disgusting mushy and if it had more then two pieces of banana in it we will never know cause we threw it away after three bites was like eating melted cool whip, the girl behind the counter had no idea what she was doing and didnt speak enough English to understand a name given for pickup, decided to try the strawberry lemonade "before we tried the pudding" and it was even worse then the pudding just tarttt with some strawberry not sure if it was ment to have sugar or was served without sweetness on purpose the shop itself was nice and cute but couldnt pay me to eat here again. Note to the liars saying this slop is good, shame on you!
