  The famous Magnolia Bakery banana pudding is definitely worth trying! I’m not a big banana lover, but I still enjoyed it. It had a soft, buttery texture without an overpowering banana flavor, which I actually liked. I loved their hot mocha even more- it was pleasantly balanced and not overly sugary like coffee can be at many places. I’d absolutely go back for the mocha! If you’re taking the CTA, get off at Washington and it’s right on the second floor of the same building- super convenient.

  They were shut down in mid-July 2026 due to a cockroach infestation. We had placed an order and came to pick it up, only to find that they were closed, and we had no idea why. We ended up calling, and they gave us the cake we had ordered, along with several free pints of pudding. What is extremely concerning is that they knew why they had been shut down but never told us. They should never have given us the food without disclosing the reason for the closure. Had we known they had been shut down because of a cockroach infestation, we absolutely would have refused the food. We should have been given the opportunity to make an informed decision about whether we were comfortable accepting anything from the restaurant.

  Banana pudding is what Magnolia Bakery is famous for! And I used to LOVE their banana pudding! BUT! What is happening recently? I bought two banana puddings in the last two weeks to make sure it’s not an accident! It’s filled with whipped cream, 4 slices of banana, and a few biscuits in different parts of the box. What is this? Why are you losing it? And the staff are not friendly at all! Hope you do something and bring the quality back

  Le pudding à la banane est excellent, je recommande ! Par contre même si vous manger sur place on vous sert les desserts dans des récipients en plastique (comme à l'emporter) vraiment bof.

  If you’re in downtown Chicago and have a sweet tooth, don’t leave without trying the Banana Pudding at Magnolia Bakery! The classic Banana Pudding was absolutely delicious, creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced with layers of fresh banana and soft vanilla wafers. It’s sweet without being overwhelming, and the texture is just so satisfying. We stopped by while exploring downtown, and this was definitely one of my favorite dessert stops. The portion is generous enough to share, although honestly, you may not want to! The State Street location is also super convenient if you’re sightseeing around The Loop and Millennium Park. Cup Cakes were delicious too.
