I've bought the bucket of chicken from here a few times by now. Trying it here and there hoping it get's better, thinking maybe they are having an off day. Nope. Compared to other Jewel-Osco's their quality here is way off. It's dry, rock hard, tasting like its been reheated from the day prior or so. If I'm paying around $20 for a bucket of chicken i expect it to at least be edible. Went back and talked to a staff member the other day about it, they are aware of this issue. There's even a comment from a year ago touching on this, so yeah they definitely know about it and it's likely an on going issue thats probably not going to change. It's likely a management issue here. Disappointing.

Fabulous Jewel store, exceptional selection and nicely laid out, they have a large Bakery, Deli, Produce, Butcher, Dairy, frozen foods, liquor department, you name it, they most likely have the groceries you want. They even sell ready to eat cooked food. There is a large Osco with a Pharmacy, Starbucks, flower gifts shop, etc. Another nice thing is there are many Jewel team members to assist, the manager was even out and about making sure everything is running well and the customers are happy, he personally assisted me. The store is very clean and well lit. The regular pricing is ok, but their sales are terrific, and they have big sales everyweek. Jewel is the best grocery store in Chicagoland, they still truly believe in customer service, and this store is a great example of good customer service. I also like they are a union store that pays good wages with great benefits to their team members, this is why you will commonly find 20 plus year Jewel team members that care about the store and your experience. If you are born and raised in Chicago you know Jewel AKA Jewels lol, if you aren't, try them out, it the best Grocery store in Chicago!

Was racially profiled and harassed by an alleged store manager who assumed I was going to steal a bottle of sir davis whiskey. The manager followed me around the store for at least 10 mins. At one point he stood at the end of the aisle in a poor act of intimidation. I asked him if I could help him and he told me to "mind my business" . I asked him why he was following me around the store and Refused to tell me why, saying “dont worry about me, worry about you”; clearly I was worried about me because I had a 300 lb unidentified man following me around. After multiple requests to explain what the issue was, he threatened to call the police and have me trespassed. I told him to call the police.I repeatedly asked for his card and information from the corporate, but he refused and said he didn't have to provide me with anything. He finally said he had me on video committing an act of theft and told other employees "they" come in, pick stuff up and run out” I asked who "they" were ? He said he's seen me before and he “had the footage”, l asked to see the video, again he refused. I asked MULTIPLE employees in the immediate vicinity to provide me with the information to file a complaint, only one attempted to provide me with a number and she was directed by Angel(the manager) (in spanish, because he assumed I couldn't understand) not comply. I then asked the employees if they were afraid of him. I will also add that he had directed about 3 or so men to the front of the store, I assume to be prepared if things got “physical”; another attempt to menace and intimidate me. The police arrived and the manager again refused to say why I was being trespassed - he told the responding officers he would explain to them, once I left. The officer informed him he needed to tell me why I was being trespassed. Angel explained that I confronted him for following me. He said he told me to mind my business or he would have me removed and then said on a police body cam, that he had ME on camera, previously committing theft. He also claimed that I had been in the store on more than one occasion - again false. He asked that I be trespassed. I explained to the officer that I had only been to this store on ONE previous occasion and had the digital receipts to prove it. I also told the officer that this manager was assuming I was another random Black male that he MAY or may not have on camera, assumed I was going to commit and therefore I was being racially profiled. I explained to the officer that after being followed around the store - I felt I had a right to ask what the actual issue was. The police officers informed me that because this was private property and the person identifying himself as the manager had requested I be trespassed, he had to inform me I was being trespassed. He explained that he could not make the manager provide me with his last name but that the information would be available in the report. I called 311 to try and obtain a copy of the police/trespass report only to find that no report was filed by the manager nor was the call documented by the responding officers. I was then told by the responding 311 officer that I could file a report, I did.- I contacted my alderman and was directed to file a civil rights complaint with the city of chicago. In addition to a complaint with Jewel Corp. The division manager anthony zuehlke never responded to my email. I was also never contacted by the actual store manager, because as it turns out - “angel” is not a store manager.I do appreciate that those who contacted me from Jewel corporate took the time to listen and follow up. We will see what the outcome is with the city of chicago.
