★★☆☆☆ The pizza was excellent, but the overall experience was really disappointing. We arrived at around 4:00 PM with a party of 8 and were told the wait would be about 45 minutes. The host took my phone number and recommended that we order our deep-dish pizza ahead of time so it would be ready when we were seated. We received a text confirming that we had been added to the waitlist, so everything seemed fine. After waiting over an hour without hearing anything, I went back to the host stand to check on our table. That’s when we found out they had no record of us being on the waitlist at all. Even after showing them the confirmation text, they still couldn’t find our reservation. They had to put us back on the waitlist, telling us it would be another 15 minutes. We got the text about 15 minutes later, but when we returned, we still stood there for another 15 minutes while they “got our table ready,” even as other groups were being seated. Once we finally sat down, the pizza came out quickly and was very good. The food itself easily deserves 5 stars. Unfortunately, the waitlist mix-up and poor handling of the situation meant we were seated well over an hour later than we should have been. For such a well-known location at Navy Pier, I expected much better organization.

Title: Terrible service, lack of empathy, and ruined plans Rating: ⭐☆☆☆☆ (1/5) I want to share the awful experience we had at Pizzeria Georgio's in Chicago. We arrived around 4:40 p.m. as a group of 12 people, looking forward to having a good meal together, but the afternoon was completely ruined due to the restaurant's terrible organization. Everything started poorly right from the host stand. When they saw we were a large group, instead of providing normal and efficient service, they made us wait 25 minutes just to give us a service "contract" because of our group size. The absurd part is that they took our order right at that moment, and yet, the food took over an hour and a half (2:30 hrs) to arrive. We even ordered thin-crust pizzas, which are supposed to be much faster to make, but that didn't help at all. The most frustrating part was watching people who arrived long after us get seated and served immediately. We decided to ask for the manager to explain the situation and express our frustration about the long wait. Instead of being understanding or looking for a solution, the manager's response was to deny everything, flat out telling us that it "wasn't true" that others were being served before us. It was a complete lack of respect and professionalism. Because of their extreme slowness and terrible management, we missed the tickets for an attraction we had already scheduled and paid for in the city. I do not recommend this restaurant at all. The service is incredibly slow, their customer service when handling issues is awful, and they have no idea how to manage large groups. They completely ruined our plans for the day.

We visited the Navy Pier location and ended up with about a 1.5-hour wait. One feature we really appreciated was that they let you place your pizza order when you check in, so it’s already being prepared while you wait. That meant our pizza arrived shortly after we were seated, which was a great idea. That said, the overall experience felt pretty chaotic due to how busy the restaurant was. Unfortunately, our service wasn’t great. We spent much of the meal with empty water glasses, and our server did not check on us after serving the pizza and then at the very end he was very persistent about asking us to leave him a five-star review, which felt a bit uncomfortable. The pizza itself looked fantastic, but the crust was a little overcooked. The toppings were good, but overall it wasn’t our favorite deep dish we had in Chicago. We likely wouldn’t return to this location and, if we did give Giordano’s another try, we’d choose a different location.

Our first visit to Giordano’s at Navy Pier was such a memorable experience! Even though the restaurant was extremely busy, we were still accommodated, and we didn’t mind sitting outdoors at all. The weather was beautiful, with a cool breeze, and since it was still light outside, it made for the perfect setting to enjoy the evening. A special thank you to Manager Jaime, who personally took care of us while the servers in our section were occupied. Since it was our first time dining at Giordano’s, he patiently answered all of our questions and gave excellent recommendations. He suggested ordering two different flavors on one of their famous Chicago-style deep-dish pizzas, which was a fantastic idea. We ordered a medium so we could enjoy some leftovers and share them with our cousins—and we’re glad we did! We knew authentic deep-dish pizza takes time to prepare, and although the wait was longer than a typical pizza, it was absolutely worth it. Jaime checked on us several times, kept us updated on our order, and made sure we were well taken care of. My husband and I actually enjoyed the extra time together, talking and taking in the beautiful atmosphere at Navy Pier while we waited. Once Megan, who is spending the summer in the U.S. from Ireland, became available, she promptly brought our drinks and checked on us whenever she could. When our pizza arrived, Jessica served it with a warm smile and made sure we had everything we needed. We were also impressed that another server, even though our table wasn’t in her section, stopped by to check on us. Every member of the team seemed genuinely happy to help despite the busy dinner rush, and their positive attitudes made our visit even more enjoyable. And the pizza? Incredible! Giordano’s famous Chicago-style deep-dish pizza definitely lived up to its reputation. It was rich, flavorful, loaded with toppings, and well worth the wait. If you’re visiting Chicago, we highly recommend stopping by Giordano’s at Navy Pier. While you’re there, be sure to spend time exploring Navy Pier itself. There’s so much to see and do, whether you’re enjoying the attractions or simply taking a relaxing walk along the waterfront. The views are beautiful, especially in the evening. The only downside is that parking can be a bit expensive, but for us, the overall experience made it worthwhile. Great food, exceptional hospitality, and a wonderful atmosphere—we’ll definitely be back!
