  It was 18 years ago in NYC that I celebrated my birthday publicly for the first time and my 30th was at Boqueria NYC. This year I decided to have a first date and a welcome back to Chicago dinner at Boqueria. It’s absolutely amazing when you see a restaurant like Boqueria grow, never really change their menu, and the food last CHEF’s FREAKING KISS! It took me back to my 30th birthday and even better. So go here and enjoy the food. Yummy!

  Depending on how your party decides to engage in ordering this restaurant can be a wild experience. My party just ordered a bunch of different tapas all at once and it felt like they just kept coming and coming, it was wild. We had no complaints about how everything tasted and there was a good variety of options. This is a restaurant where you can easily share meals with one another as well. While I don't have a picture, I really enjoyed the salmon and my party really liked the shrimp and croquetas as well. We got 2 orders of the coquetas, they were a real crowd pleaser. The food came fairly fast and we were seated in a good spot in the restaurant that got a lot of natural light. Overall had a good experience here as it was definitely different types of dining experience in a good way!

  The wait staff was great! It just took about 40 minutes for our food to come out and all we ordered were two chicken salads. Don’t let my review put you off of it, my friend mentioned he always has good experiences here. Just my take

  I am from Spain, came here for my birthday and food was amazing, very authentic but very stingy except for the bravas. We asked for extra bread and got three tiny thin pieces of bread. Portions were really small, not a good representation of Spain's portions and generosity. 12$ for the tiniest jamón plate.

  We had a really disappointing experience at Boqueria in the West Loop. There were eight of us for brunch, and we ordered the family-style option, but it took nearly two hours before we received food. Even then, dishes came out one at a time — like a single egg or small plate for a table of eight — which made no sense for a shared brunch experience. The bigger issue was how the situation was handled. Staff seemed surprised that we were frustrated despite the long delays and lack of communication. The manager blamed part of the delay on a peanut allergy at the table, commented that we were “lucky” they still had food left, and even mentioned losing money on our table because of discounts offered to make up for the experience. It felt defensive rather than solution-oriented. To make matters worse, we were charged for drinks outside the bottomless window — even though we only stayed that long because service was so delayed. Overall, the experience felt disorganized, dismissive, and lacking basic hospitality. Unfortunately, not somewhere I’d return for brunch.
