The salad lettuce was not good, lots of brown pieces and some rotting pieces. I also ordered the turkey sandwich, it came hot, with lettuce on it, that was also wilted and brown. Not a great aesthetic. I also wasn’t aware it would come hot, I didn’t see any mention of this on the menu or in the online ordering system but maybe I missed something.

We were passing through Boise and decided to stop here for breakfast, and we were pleasantly surprised by this diamond of a restaurant! Nearly all menu options can be made classic/omnivore, vegetarian/vegan, or gluten-free. Their portobello mushroom 'bacon' was especially a highlight for me! Our server Ryan was so friendly and helpful! We were left with a really great impression of the city and will plan to stay in Boise a bit longer during our next trip!

The food is great and the venue is lovely. However, the restrooms need to be maintained and updated. There was liquid all over the floor in the women’s restroom near the toilet (which if you are wearing pants, as I was, results in your pants getting wet/stained), the soap dispensers in both the men’s and women’s restrooms were broken, and the faucet in the women’s bathroom shoots water out in every direction.

I'm not really a review guy. If I like a place, I go back. If I don't, I move on to the next one. My family doesn't eat out very often, so when we do, we usually choose places we really enjoy. That's what makes this review disappointing to write, because I genuinely like the food at The Grove.
We've been here a few times now, including shortly after they opened. Back then, there were some obvious growing pains, but they were new and very busy, so I gave them some grace.
This latest visit was unfortunately much more frustrating. We put our name on a quoted 20-minute waitlist, grabbed a coffee from 206, and waited... and waited... and waited. During that time, we watched several other parties get seated ahead of us, including groups of two being seated at four-top tables. Just as we were walking away, they finally found us a table.
After ordering, things only got worse. We sat at our table for over an hour waiting for our food. During that time, we watched four other tables leave without ever receiving their meals. We probably should have done the same, but after waiting that long, we decided to stick it out.
The food eventually arrived, and it was very good—as it always has been. That's what makes this so frustrating. The quality of the food is not matched by the customer service experience.
What bothered me most wasn't even the wait itself—it was the lack of communication. We were told they were short-staffed and received an apology with a full price meal, but on Father's Day, one of the busiest restaurant days of the year, that explanation felt a little odd while seeing multiple servers on the floor and several staff working in the kitchen. Maybe there were issues behind the scenes that we couldn't see, but a little communication would have gone a long way.
If we had been told upfront that they were running an hour or more behind on orders, we could have made an informed decision before being seated. Even a quick update while we waited would have helped. Instead, I had to flag down our server just to find out what was happening with our food. Sitting there with two hungry kids and me becoming increasingly hangry made for a pretty rough experience.
I really want this place to succeed because the food is absolutely worth coming back for. But the lack of communication and overall customer service need significant improvement. Hopefully they can work through these issues, because I'd love to be able to recommend The Grove based on the entire experience, not just the food.
