Went through the Drive-Thru today to order the buy-1-get-1 Sausage McMuffin Deal. This deal consists of buy 1 sausage mcmuffin, get a 2nd one for a dollar. I ordered 6.
I get this all the time; it's my go-to breakfast meal because it's cheap. Cheapest breakfast meal by far actually. Love this meal.
Well, when I saw the price on the screen was like 28 dollars or something I knew right away something was wrong. I asked if this was the buy-1-get-1 and they said the price will change when they hit the button.
They pressed the button, and the price changed to like 18 or 19 dollars. Still way too high.
When I made it to the window I asked for clarification again. The drive-thru cashier was confused so they asked their manager for clarification. Manager said they only have the 2-for-6 sausage egg and cheese deal.
Ahh. Egg. There's the problem. I don't want the egg 2-for-6 deal. I was the regular buy-1-get-1 deal. Problem solved. Right?
Well manager said the buy-1-get-1 doesn't exist anymore. Okay. Oh well. I pay the 19 bucks and move to the 2nd window.
I ask for clarification AGAIN, at the 2nd window. Cashier #2 tells me the buy-1-get-1 definitely exists. I say that's the one I want and ask for them to fix it.
Manager shows up.
Manager accuses me of ordering the egg sandwiches.
I say I definitely didn't order the egg ones, I noticed there was an issue right away, I tried multiple times, at the order window, and again at the first window before paying, to remedy the issue. Now I have already paid, and we need to remedy this issue after I have already been charged.
Manager doubles down.
Says I ordered wrong, and that they need to remake all the items.
Manager takes zero responsibility for their error. Blames me, the customer, even though I went above and beyond trying to get the situation remedied before it got to the point of requiring a refund.
I finally got my refund, and the correct order.
Manager will most likely face no repercussions.
Very disappointed in my experience today. Not because the order was messed up (it happens). Not because there was a misunderstanding in the drive thru (it happens).
But because the manager took no responsibility and placed the blame on me, rather than owning up and fixing the situation before it escalated to a refund. Beyond that, even once a refund was required, the manager continued to double-down and blame me for the issue.
Love this McDonalds. I'll continue to be a repeat customer. But today gets a very disappointing 1-star review.
