As the leaders in drive-thru for over 30 years Checkers & Rally’s locations are currently open and ready to serve our guests. We can provide our guests with the additional safety of an enclosed kitchen and limited personal contact – whether you choose to drive up, order ahead online, or have our food delivered. In response to concerns around the Coronavirus we have closed the few dining rooms that exist in the Checkers & Rally’s system and are limiting the number of people on our patio and at our walk-up windows. We are reinforcing our policies, including frequent and proper handwashing, along with the proper utilization and changing of gloves as we continue to serve our guests.
On the night of the 17th, I visited Checkers in Valdosta, GA and unfortunately had one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had in a long time.
I pulled up to the drive-thru and waited without even receiving a greeting. After sitting there for a while, I politely said “hello,” only to be met with a rude response over the speaker: “We will be with you in a moment.” It wasn’t what was said, but how it was said. A simple “Welcome to Checkers, we’ll be with you in just a moment” would have gone a long way.
At that point, I already felt the visit was headed in the wrong direction. I eventually placed my order and pulled up to the window, where I recognized the same employee who had been rude over the speaker. I calmly asked to speak with the manager, hoping the situation could be handled professionally.
The manager, Karen, initially seemed understanding, but the conversation quickly shifted into excuses for multiple customer service issues. Instead of addressing the situation fairly, I was labeled “irate” and even accused of putting my finger in her face — which was completely false. Thankfully, I had recorded the interaction because something told me I needed documentation.
As a Black male, it is frustrating and concerning to be falsely characterized in situations like this. Too often people are unfairly labeled as aggressive or threatening when they are simply speaking up about poor treatment. If I had not recorded the interaction, the story being told could have been very different, if it was told at all.
I chose to politely decline the food and left to eat at McDonald’s because I no longer felt comfortable. Customer service matters, accountability matters, and false accusations should never be part of a manager’s response to a complaint.
I would still like the opportunity to speak with John directly so he can hear the actual recorded interaction for himself, because I strongly believe he may have been given a completely different version of events.

My food was cold. Like fridge cold. We all got severe diarrhea ! When I called to speak with an employee I was confused as someone else who had apparently already called about also getting severe diarrhea after eating cold food at this establishment .

This place scams! I placed an order FROM Florida and it was sent to this location. I immediately called and told them to cancel the order. I was told the food wasn’t prepared and it was cancelled but I needed to call corporate for a refund. Which I did ! I then also reached out to the franchise owner, Rosanne Lewis , who told me she was working on getting me refunded and that for some reason TWO orders online were “accidentally “ routed to her store. After two weeks and no refund I reached out to her again she assured me she was working on my refund . When I asked her for some proof to provide my bank her entire tone changed and she said she was fighting for the money cause the food was prepared . Which is a lie ! I was told by the manager and cooperate that the order was cancelled within seconds so I would get a refund . Today my bank stated that this franchise owner actually marked the food as “picked up”!!! $42 worth of food never prepared or received from this crooked franchise owner .

Went to this location today after not going for a while, got my order, traveled home, and realized that after ordering two Bazonzilla combos and 2 classic burgers that I only received 4 classic burgers. I drove ten miles back to the store only to be told they needed all the food back and the door slammed in my face after asking to speak to the manager. My two-year-old and 7-year-old already were eating the other classic burgers and I wasn't going to take them out of their mouths. What else do you expect from going to a place like this, It won't happen again!
