I normally do not eat out, and I rarely take the time to write reviews unless I have had an exceptionally good or exceptionally disappointing experience. Unfortunately, this experience was disappointing enough that I feel it is important to share. On July 21, 2026, I was in the middle of moving and had a friend helping me. Because we were in a hurry, I wanted to take her out and get us something to eat as a small thank-you for helping me. We initially ordered two hamburger meals, but because I was trying to be careful with my money during the move, we decided to change our order to the advertised $7 meals. The employee who waited on us was Cavin. When I asked to change the order to the $7 meals, he hesitated and then told us that they did not serve the $7 meal after 3:00 p.m. There was no posted notice or advertisement that I saw stating that the $7 meal had a 3:00 p.m. cutoff. I understand that Dairy Queen locations may be independently owned and operated. However, I have since checked with other Dairy Queen locations in the surrounding area, and they honor the $7 meal. The Reidsville, Georgia location was the only one I encountered that would not honor it after 3:00 p.m. The second issue involved my change. My total was $27.02, and I paid with a $50 bill. I also gave an additional dime because I was trying to make the change easier and avoid receiving a large amount of coins. I specifically looked for the dime. When I asked for the two cents that should have been returned, Cavin told me, “We don't give out change.” I asked why I was allowed to give additional change if the restaurant was not going to return the correct change to me. I was told again that they do not give change. The manager then came over and explained that the $7 meal was only available before 3:00 p.m. Again, my concern is not necessarily that the location has a different policy—it is that the restriction was not clearly posted or communicated to customers. If a location chooses not to honor a promotion after a certain time, customers should be able to see that information before ordering. What made this experience especially frustrating is that I was already trying to stretch my money while moving. I went out of my way to take my friend to get something to eat because she was helping me, and I expected a simple, pleasant experience. Instead, I left feeling like my business was not appreciated. I understand that mistakes and misunderstandings can happen, but customers should be given clear information about pricing and promotions, and they should receive the correct amount of change when paying for their order. Because of this experience, I personally will not be returning to this Dairy Queen, and unfortunately, it has left such a bad impression that I don't plan on eating at Dairy Queen again. I hope management will take this review seriously and consider making their policies clear to customers and ensuring that employees handle transactions fairly and professionally.
