  My first time trying this place was about a month or 2 months ago? I got the Philly cheesesteak meal and loved it! Decided to get it today and the Philly was so SALTY. I couldn’t even finish it, the fries were salty as well but not as salty as the Philly! It tasted like a mouthful of seawater.

  From the photos I had the impression maybe it was the owner’s Mom who voted this place America’s #1. Likely my assumption was correct but I’m only going by personal research and history. I was raised on Philly Connection which was amazingly better. My real score is 3.5 stars. It’s across from Jersey Mike’s which I give 5 stars for their Philly. The price is better here at Charley’s because it’s a bit smaller and less meat and toppings. My 10 year old daughter and I shared an $18 Large Philly combo meal and that was plenty. Steak fries are great. They have some growing to do if they want to be real #1. Go check out Woody’s in Atlanta since there is no more Philly connection.

  Great food! Relaxed, quick, and friendly. Makes me think of those other upscale places that aren’t quite fast food but aren’t quite a sit down, and sometimes that what you want.
