  My wife and I came to Atlanta for work and we saw that “Durty Birds Southern Kitchen” came highly recommended. The ambiance was esthetically pleasing with all of the nicely framed pictures of black movie scenes and black pop cultural icons. The service was on point, and the FOOD…MAN! The food was amazing!! You’ve gotta try those black eye pea hush puppies, they blew my mind! The Turkey chop served with mac & cheese and a side of delicious yams!!!…I couldn’t have set up a better lunch scenario. You gotta try this place, it’s all that!!

  First I love that it’s black owned!! Once you walk thru the door you’re greeted and seated. The customer service now is good. I went for my bday (July) I found it on tik tok so I wanted to check it out for my bday dinner. It was me and my husband. The set up is very nice it’s clean our waiter he was friendly. So first red flag was it’s a brunch spot but didn’t offer alcohol I’m not a drinker but my husband wanted a drink we still stayed ok we ordered the southern plates I had mac n cheese and greens with my chicken he had yams and greens with his chicken. The food didn’t take long coming out that’s a plus well I thought soon as we get the food I taste the mac that was a solid 2 the greens maybe a 3 the chicken is where it got worse that was a -0 I took a bite in my chicken and boom BLOOD I was sooooo mad!!! I’m like this can’t be real that turnt my stomach so bad and made me upset that I choose to come here for my bday and get bloody food. I instantly went to tell the waiter. I worked in a kitchen and I know how the staff be in there all the sudden the cooks start coming out I guess to see who was complaining it was at least three cooks came out. Next one of the owners come over don’t remember his name he was nice apologized asked did I want anything else I declined it. He took it off our tab he should have took everything off but that’s fine we paid and left. Would I recommend this place to anyone absolutely not!! You can’t play with people health like that, that meat was raw not done at all.

  Big disappointment. Unfortunately, the food advertised on social media by “influencers” is not the same food you’ll get, $55 wasted. Rice tasted burnt, turkey chops were bland but they were fried well, none of the food had flavor except for the yams. The chicken wings definitely weren’t as advertised, they were supposed to be honey hot lemon pepper but tasted like they were just tossed in buffalo sauce nor were they crispy. I originally sat down to eat my food there but opted to take it to go due to the flies. Only ended up eating the yams and one of the turkey chops. Ended up letting my dog have the rest. On a positive note the service was good but the food is the main attraction and it definitely did not live up to the hype. Hopefully, they make some adjustments because the menu items look good but are severely lacking in the flavor department. The prices would be fine if the quality of the food they serve matched. First impressions are lasting. The pictures below were taken before I started eating the food.

  Maybe my expectations were too high.. the customer service here is great, I loved the decor and the ambience & they have amazing staff but the food isn’t going to come out like what you see advertised on social media which is really disappointing because I came due to a review that I saw on Instagram & I’m A foodie so I try a lot of new restaurants. I will say that the Black Eyed Pea hush puppies were delicious but that was really the only thing I enjoyed. The macaroni and cheese isn’t necessarily baked it resembles KFC macaroni in a sense & it isn’t topped with a baked cheese at all, I originally ordered the stuffed chicken and the chicken wasn’t stuffed whatsoever and the chicken was bland so I had to send it back. The green beans had no seasoning or taste to them. I believe it was the owner that came over to my table to assist with my food. He was very understanding and accommodated me, which I appreciate. I switched my order over to the turkey wing plate. The cabbage was good, but it’s really salty, my rice that came with the turkey wing was a bit hard and so was the outer part of the turkey wing. For the price that you pay you would expect and want quality soul food. This review isn’t to bash this establishment it’s more so constructive criticism.

  Absolutely loved my experience here! The food was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. Everything was cooked perfectly, and you could tell the kitchen takes pride in what they serve. The service was also amazing—everyone was friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere was comfortable and inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a meal with family, friends, or even for a casual night out. From the food to the service, everything exceeded my expectations. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this restaurant to everyone I know. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re missing out! ❤️🍽️
