I visited our sonic today to order 4 large drinks. These were for me and my 3 kids. Because of a medical condition, I cannot have caffeine at all and typically drink soda/sparkling water at restaurants. My kids just do not need caffeine at 10 am. I began my order by asking, “Can I order cups of soda water?” Just to clarify that the store would sell me that. “Yes you can do that.” So I proceed to order. “I want 4 large soda waters, with one syrup addition each. One make it dirty, one passion fruit, one blue raspberry, one watermelon citrus.” After ordering the box was cut off and someone came to my car to take my order personally. I clarified again, “Can I order soda water?” “Yes maam we can do that.” And reiterated my order. The girl went inside to put the order into the computer and I watched her ring it up wrong on the screen. She rang up 3 refreshers and one soda water make it dirty. So I walked to the door and knocked just because I didn’t want them to make whole drinks that we could not drink because of the caffeine. Again I am not trying to be difficult but I have a medical condition that prohibits me from having any caffeine. They would not come to the door but rang through the box again. I reiterated that I did not want refreshers and they said they understood. The order was never changed on the screen. When the carhop came out with the drinks and said my total was $16 and some change I knew it was still wrong. I explained again what we wanted (I really don’t think a fizzy water with a pump of syrup is very hard to understand at this point) and she went back inside to try to take care of it. She finally came back out with the original drinks that I could tell were not made correctly because I could see fruit floating in them (not a syrup). She said “we’re going to ring this up for you this one time but because you are basically stealing from the company do not ask us to do this again.” In what way have I stolen from the company? I clarified from the beginning that I could purchase a soda water. They told me that I could. The entire premise of sonic is that you can make custom drinks. If I am unable to drink caffeinated soda because of a medical condition, why can I not purchase a soda water if that is something you generally sell? I asked the carhop after she told me I was stealing, “Can I purchase a soda water?” And she said yes. So I asked, “And can I purchase syrup shots?” And she said yes. So I asked, “That being said why can I not purchase what I asked you to give me?” She said that it was because I was trying to make a refresher. I explained I did not want green tea, electrolytes, or fresh fruit. All I wanted was soda water and one pump of syrup. These are too completely different orders. She went back inside and when she came back out, she said again that I was stealing from the company. I paid my bill and left. They did adjust the final receipt, but they still put it in wrong. Three of our drinks were still made incorrectly when we left. They charged me for 10 flavor shots not the 4 I asked for, but I’m not going to squabble over a few dollars. I just do not appreciate being treated the way that I was over some dumb drink that I verified from the get-go that I was able to order. All of that being said we were at Sonic a total of 35 to 40 minutes. There were three people working inside. I was the only customer for the entirety of the time we were there with the exception of one car that was leaving when we pulled in (as far as I know). None of this adds up.

Right away, the customer service takes a hit. The person that took our order did not listen to what we said, and just made assumptions, then after each item (even the first item) they would say, "is that all" in a tone that would suggest that we were an inconvenience. We clearly stated "wacky pack kids meal, hamburger" and they rang up a jr double cheese burger. Things like that consistently throughout the order. When our food arrived, there was no toy in the wacky pack, and when I asked about it (not the first time) the carhop stated "I don't know if a toy comes with it." The menu clearly states "fun toy included" right below the words "wacky pack kids meals". We were also charged for a medium drink with the wacky pack meal, when we didn't order it. The only "fresh" food items we got were the mozzarella sticks. The hot dog was old, the tots were old, and had been recooked to the point that I could taste the fryer oil through the chili and cheese on them. The carhop was not interested in listening to us when our food was delivered, and a cook brought out our drinks (mustard, ketchup and grease stained shirt). As someone who managed a Sonic drive-in in the past, and someone who likes Sonic drive-in over most other fast food establishments, I would never recommend this location to anyone as it is now.
